All parts are in to begin building my D1 ProCharger forged 408 cid engine.
I am looking for advice on which lifters to consider.
My brain thinks that the GM racing roller hydraulics will be fine. ($300)
My builder thinks I should eliminate the plastic lifter buckets and use a bar type roller ($800). Of course,he keeps using the term " good insurance" and so far this " term" has cost me about an additional $1500.
I certainly don't want to be penny wise and dollar foolish, but my paranoia is beginning to get expensive.
Just get the factory gm ls7 lifters. They are like $230 for a full set. No problems north of 7000 rpm as long as your heads are not set up like garbage.

That's my thinking, too.
But, my builder showed me a broken lifter bucket that allowed the roller to turn sideways. It wiped out the cam, and ruined the lifter bore. Plus, it flooded the oil with particles. The engine had to come out and be rebuilt, and that's the last thing I ever want to do again, pulling this engine out of the car, solo.
My heads are stock LS2 with the trunion upgrade and beehive springs. Going to have a mild Compcams blower camshaft.
my previous D1SC stroked ls2 setup at ~700whp ran ls7 lifters for over 10k miles without issues. It wasn't a race car but it certainly wasn't built to nancy pants around either. I don't think it was ever rev'd to 7k rpm though, the cam fell off at about 6,500.
ls7 lifters till they fail or ever fail..lol...I had 0 issues with mine and also its a good idea to replace the trays with new ones...
maybe some that went bad were old trays w tons of miles
Thanks everyone.
Inasmuch as it looks like my new engine is going to set me back almost $10k once I am finished, I decided to use the Lunati Link Bar rollers.
