Default Yank Torque Converter?

I am looking to swap out my stock torque converter for a Yank TC. Any suggestions on what stall speed or model? My current mods are below but I am currently saving up for an ECS supercharging kit which hopefully will be on by the end of the year.

160' stat, Lingenfelter CAI, Kooks LT 1 7/8" Headers, Kooks X-Pipe no cats, Corsa Sport Mufflers, 3.15 rear end gears, CoW Booster, ECS Tuned.

I used to have a 1993 Coupe with a Vortech S/C, 3.73, and a PI Vigilante 3000 stall TC. It felt sloppy during stop/go driving almost like the tranny was slipping or something, that's unless you romped it then it ran like a raped ape. It took a while to get used to. From what i have read, the Yank TC's are might "tighter" than the Vigilante. Any input on the drivability on the Yank would also be much appreciated!!

I ran a Yank SS series in my trans am and loved it. That was a while ago so not sure what new models they have but I know my shop only deals with Yank.

Contact Dave at Yank directly. I'm betting that with an ECS kit in your future, he will recommend his "Power Adder Series" 3400 stall. That will wake your car up big time before you add the blower, especially with the 3.15 gears. You might as well buy yourself some drag radials now while you're at it, because street tires are not going to cut it anymore!

How did the Yank TC feel for stop/go driving? What stall did you run?

I run a Yank 3600 in my daily driver 08.

It has been perfectly fine. I run a small transcooler. In day to day driving my temps stay lower than a stock converter and stock cooling.

I also live in TX with regular 100 degree days.

What model Yank TC did you guys have? Pro series, SC, SS, etc.? I have not read one bad review on a Yank TC.

Crawler: I was thinking of running a small trans. cooler with it as well. I am looking to put in an ECS S/C kit by years end, with this in mind and having the intercooler in front of the radiator, where would the trans. cooler mount?

I have had both the yank SS3600 and the SS3200, both had excellent street mannors but honestly IMO if dont run a big cam and your not tracking the car ALOT and it's mostly a DD , I would stick with the 3000-3200 stall. It utilizes the torque much better for the street......Yank converters are Awesome!!!!!!!! Talk to Dave @ yank, he'll set you up....

My cooler is on the pass side. Will still clear an intercooler.

You can also tuck it up in the rear if you desire. Depending on the exhaust system you're running.

My camaro has a cam almost identical to a Night Fury and I run a 3200 in it (Had it laying around). Its more than enough converter. I've run a 2800 and it was fine. With modern converter technology, you don't neede as loose of a converter to run a decent sized cam. That is if you have a good tuner.

I just like the bigger stalls for the track. 3200 and under, you can try it our without an additional cooler. My camaro doesn't have one. Only time it gets warm is if I hot lap it at the track. It just gets warm. Not hot.

Thinking about putting in an ECS blower cam in before I do the S/C. What Yank T/C do you guys recommend? One tuner told me to go with the SC 3000 while another told me the SS 3200?

Well sorry for asking a stupid question, but what year is your car? 05-4L60 or 06+with a 6L80? I too loved my Yank converter in several friends cars is all personal preference as to what your going to do with the car. At the track almost always the higher stalls tend to 60' better and so the ET usually is better. Not always, but a larger percentage of the time depending on the car etc. But if its just a street car then I like the 3000-3400's because you can usually dead hook that on the street pretty easy with out having to have any special tires, lower the stall obviously easier etc. 3000 is a pretty safe bet IMO for either of the trany's. GL!
