Default 230-240 ECT while cruising? boosted ls7

My tuner just finished putting together my build.

ls7 with a Novi 1500 with bolt ons. dewitts and a 160* thermo. meth. tr6 plugs.

He is doing some street driving/tuning without getting into boost, and is seeing 230-240 engine coolant temps . I know everything is tight down there, and we are in Florida but that is HIGH!

I have not confirmed with him with the IAT's or the oil temp was....or if we have water wetter in the system (would that even help?)

Any thoughts?

Would running a cooler plug help with engine temps?

In traffic with the a/c on it's possible. Could possibly be air in the system as well that needs to be "burped".

How hot is it outside, and is this happening at steady speed or idle? Is the fan running full speed? That's the first thing to check. Could also have air in the cooling system. I'd also double check your front bumper setup to make sure everything is how ECS recommends.

Check the coolant. It took me a lot of heat cycles to get the right amount of coolant in it and stop running hot in the garage. Maybe try some water wetter if coolant level checks out ok. Ensure the fans are coming on as well.

Something is wrong unless you are 105+ outside, and stopped at a light with AC on.

One way to clear air blockage is to massage the upper radiator pipe that connects to the water pump. Sounds weird, but just grab it with both hands and squeeze/unsqueeze over and over (you'll hear it squishing/sucking)

I had good luck sucking on the small hose that connects to the reservoir/expansion tank to get the air out

Sounds dumb, I know, but it worked. Mine had a ton of air in it.. obviously stop sucking if you get to coolant

Use suction on the steam vent from the heads..... gets all the air out which will be at the highest point. Works great.

Plugs won't really effect anything at this point. The Dewitts is definitely a good idea...

Sounds like the fan is not operable, or there is air pockets like most have indicated here. While cruising down the road that temperature is 30*+ different than we have seen all week (Did two ECS kits this week in-house here on LS7s, one is stock + kit and other is heads/cam/headers/alky + kit/ Was seeing over the road 198*-208*)... We install a ton of the ECS kits, in traffic with A/C on in the dead heat I have seen 230-240 but that is in traffic. The 230-240 temps will not hurt the motor but it will be closing in to the point where the AC will start blowing hot and be uncomfortable for passengers. We have a few modifications that we have fabricated in-house here to get those temperatures lower, but on the base kit with Dewitts you should be OK.

not normal as I drive mine in Florida

You're IATs will go up sitting in bumper to bumper traffic (and will come down with movement) but the coolant temps remain significantly lower than that
