Hey guys. I just installed an ECS Novi 1500 kit with 10-rib direct drive on my car. I am having some belt alignment issues. The belt appears to be fine until getting into the high rpms on shifts it has started tearing off ribs. The belt is shredding ribs toward the radiator.
Does anyone have a Gates alignment tool that I can borrow rent to get this belt aligned?
On mine if I looked really close I could see the belt was being shifted towards one end of the power steering and alternator pullies. That at least gave me a hit on what was off.. in my case the alternator was too far forward and I adjusted the supercharger pulley towards the front of the car slightly
Dayco makes one too BTW. Hopefully somebody has one you can borrow.
Here's a picture.. see how the gap on the left side of the belt (between belt and pulley) and gap on the right side of the belt aren't the same? It sits in the middle now that I did some grinding on the alternator and moved it back slightly

where are you located?... when you take the belt off also check the tensioner angle through its full motion... when I went to a 10 rib I had issues with it flexing either where the tensioner mounted to the plate or it was flexing the plate itself and causing my idler angle to be off and would toss the belt towards the front of the car... all of my pulleys were perfectly aligned as well and I am also running a secondary drive... I did not have any issues when I ran it with a 6 rib belt

Thank you for trying to help out. I have the 10-rib direct drive. The accessories belt appear to be just fine. It's the passenger/blower side that's chewing up belts. I have the IW lower, tensioner pulley next to it, water pump, supercharger pulley, and supercharger tensioner pulley that use this belt.

I was curious if that was a possibility. How would you check that, or would it be that noticeable to the naked eye as you put tension on it and moved it? Can that be fixed? My belt went from a 10-8-7-5 ribs lol

yeah I can see that, definitely not good... if it is in fact the tensioner flexing and causing it to eat the belt I would think you would be able to see it with your eyes, I could see mine... you will need someone to get under the car and slowly open the tensioner with the belt removed and keep an eye on the idler and see if the angle changes as the tensioner is being opened... some of their tensioner plates have an adjustable turnbuckle that "might" solve the problem... I would also double check the pulley alignment on everything else as well just to rule that out
