Default Paxton Novi 1500SL

Anyone have any issues with the Paxton Novi S/C head unit from ECS? First off ECS has been great! No problems there. They are getting me in touch with Paxton to return the unit today. I haven't found anything on these units where anyone was having problems. Mine blew a bunch of oil out the vent and now sounds like bearing failure. It's less than a year old and only has about 3000mi on it. I'm thinking it's just a fluke but would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem. I changed the oil several times and it looked clean. When it pushed the oil out it is now dark black. Changed again and turned black right away. I hope this thing will be covered under warranty and it doesn't take to long. Anyone have any experience sending something back to Paxton?

Glad to help, I would say the failure rate is about 3% as a guess. Paxton is pretty good about getting the rebuilds out fast, but everyone gets busy now and then.

Is it normal to have to rebuild them every few years or do they last longer than that?

(and I know that's a tough one because a year doesn't really define how far or hard it's driven)

It seems like they are either good or bad usually. We have plenty now that have been on cars for over ten years/over 100k, and some that failed on the dyno, but the percentage is very low. It just stinks when you are in the percentage..
We have never sent one in for a "check up", most of them we never see or hear of again.

That is good. I need to add it up but I think I've put over 10K miles on mine since December, so I guess mine is OK. Just wasn't sure if it was something I should plan on sending in every few years or not. Sounds like not.

I searched all over the web and couldn't find anything negative on these compressors. Thanks for the comments. I figured it was just a fluke. Thats a low failure rate and I'm glad it went now. I can have it off the car in about 15min with the ECS bracket so that's a positive note!

No, I'm waiting to get a return authorization to send it back to Paxton from ECS. They are going to have it ship direct to save time. It just happened today.

I think iv got same problem, only 3,000 miles and noticed same noise? Its a bitch to take it off and iv had it on the car lil over 3 yrs so I guessing it wont be covered even though I can show 33,000 miles on my vett when I bought it and now 4 yrs later 36,700

Default Noise in my Paxton novi 1500

Put mine on my 08 vett a lil.over 3 yes ago. Only 3300 miles later it's making a grinding sound. Dropped all the oil added 4oz fresh oil, noise same. Cant see any obvious reason. Hopefully they will work with me due to so little miles on it.
