Default ECS Intercooler Install ?

Buttoning things up on my ecs install on my ZO6.

The front end looks unfinished to me. Does this piece get reused? I dont see a mention of it in the manual.

Thanks!

I did not re-use it on mine for whatever that is worth.

I meant to try to make use of it recently when I had the intercooler out but didn't end up spending any time on it.

Nope. Doesn't get reinstalled unless you want to try and modify it to work.

debating weather the effort would be worth the reward
Only a few screws and nuts to get the bumper cover off at this point

I originally left mine installed. To be honest, I think that it actually helped keep the engine cooler since it directs the airflow to the radiator better IMO. Later, I removed it and since then I have not seeing the lower temps I once saw with it installed.

I think it could help. There's another piece that goes up the sides of the radiator that I think can help too. Pretty realcanuk cut up his factory pieces and made them work on his setup (though he's using an A&A setup, not ECS)

It was quite easy to reuse, Popped the bumper cover off, cut the sides for IC pipe and BOV, cut reliefs on bottom for IC mounting tabs/bolts and its in. Looks clean as the factory setup other than that pesky aluminum thing peeking in front of the condenser.

Got any pictures? I took a look at mine last night and I'm going to try to do the same. It looked like basically what you said.. need to cut out areas for BOV, etc. but otherwise it should fit.

Sorry, I didnt get a chance to take any pictures. I just cut the areas that would interfere with the bov and piping, Installed to bumper cover on car with IC out, cut the releifs for the IC mounts and it was done.

I jUst cut along the seam, as depicted in red

k, I'll try the same maybe this weekend.

What about the other cover.. there's another one that is basically side panels that funnels air into the radiator. Did you do anything with it? I was going to try to re-use both the one you already installed and this one to direct air through the radiator better

No
I left that one alone. Im pretty sure it would need a huge cutout negating the effect of the panel.

Yeah it looked like it'd need a good bit of cutting. Pat G had good results building some side panels for his, so I dunno.. I may try cutting mine up and see if I can get anything useful out of it. I'm not the best fab guy around though so it will probably just make a mess!

I haven't had any issues engine temp wise regardless, I just think it will look cleaner

That whole area under the hood is covered by the ecs shield, so It really will not look any different from under the hood. One would have to be on the ground to see it from the front
