Default Enough fuel for 1/2mi?

My combo is simple, ECS kit with restrictor in plus Alky meth kit. Z06 manifolds and full 3" exhaust. CircleD converter. Car dynos 672whp. We have a 1kft track near by and it went 8.5@122 on a 1.5 60'. It had a bit more in it...I couldn't get to the floor until after the 60'. So it's a 10.0-10.teen 1/4mi car. Fuel system is just as ECS specs on the kit when I bought it in 2014. So that's their BAP on a stock fuel pump. Do you that have ran this combo for a while think the stock fuel pump will hold it together for a 1/2 mi event? My tuner rocks and I fully trust him...and he told me 'no go' on a full mile.

You should have some way of monitoring AFR/fuel pressure if you're going to go for it. I don't know what gauges you have if any..

People always say that but how often do you look at gauges when you're WOT?

you'll know if you lean out

I had issues with the stock LS3 fuel pump although mine was weird. I went with an LS7 pump on the BAP and no issues. I'm at 640 RWHP using meth, headers, LS7 pump now, and a BAP and have zero issues.

LS3 pump now...my weird issue was long driving (anything longer than an hour) and I couldn't really get any top end power. It was like the car hit a brick wall. It didn't matter if I beat on the car or if I drove 70 MPH with cruise control on. The long driving would cause the pump to heat up enough that when the BAP commanded more fuel the pump basically said GTFO I quit. Showed an AFR of 17+ Needless to say that pump went buh-bye. It was very obvious the power cut when it happened.

I glance at mine when making pulls. If you dont want to watch it then a failsafe is what I would recommend.

I use a AEM failsafe wideband/boost...once everything is in the groove it's easy to monitor. I was just concerned about that lag time on what the AFR says and what's going on. I know to listen for audible ping as well, obviously.

I should have also added that's why I use a DashLogic. I've set it up that when certain parameters are met a warning shows on either the DIC or HUD or both. It helps when you have a piece of hardware monitoring everything and alerting you if something is off (boost, afr, knock, IAT, oil pressure, coolant temp, etc. etc. etc.)

EDIT: I don't know about everyone else but I'm too busy having fun rather than having my eyes fixed on gauges on every pull. Having something else watch for me helps keep a piece of mind while I'm enjoying the car.

Do you have the fail safe wired to cut ignition? I'm wiring one up for a friend to a small little alarm

Yep.. dash logic FTW. You're right.. it isn't exactly easy to stare at a gauge during a pull, but dash logic will beep or warn you based on whatever parameters you wanti, if you set it up to

I don't have the trigger wire attached to anything yet...but that was my idea...I have a friend with a Lingenfelter box I could buy...he has used it for nitrous and I could have it dump timing via the box off that trigger. I really like the flexibility of that gauge!
I'm going to look into the dash logic set up. I'd be nice to see knock retard...reminds me of my turbo buick days.

an ECS stage 1 fuel system is so cheap and easy to install I am not sure why anyone would chance it? and those are rated to I think 850-900whp if you include dual nozzle methanol

you'd PROBABLY be fine but since I imagine you'll push the car more in the future anyway why not just throw an external pump system on there and know its good?

dashlogic is awesome and well worth the price

Yea this is the route I would go I want beeping and flashing lights...maybe something that fires off the hazards via canbus.

Nobody has time to watch the gauge

I've got a very similar setup, 2013 GS with LS7 manifolds and A&A V3 Si and Alky meth kit, as matter of face, I make the same HP (672RWHP). I have stock pump with BAP and did a 1/2 mile event last fall with no issues. I am running dual nozzle meth spraying a lot of meth though, so I probably don't push the fuel pump as hard. Also, I have a '13 which comes with the Z06 fuel pump.
