Yes it is, but for cost/ease of use for a lot of people, the AGP switch works great. Setup 3 of them and they all work perfectly and install quickly.

but I'm asking because the ECM does not have front wheel speed signal it just have the rear wheel speed signal

SIRHC Labs sells a signal converter you can use off the front wheel to get your speed signal.

dabbled with one of those on my buddys TT Camaro, it gets the signal from the ecu, which is rear wheel speed. the Ecu doesn't see individual wheel speeds, as it doesn't use abs data.
so you still have to give yourself enough cushion, to compensate for potential wheelspin.
I run a Holley Ecu, so i added a front wheel speed sensor and C02 on the gates, with the goal hooking on the street, so I run 3psi gate springs, to still achieve functional boost curve on such low springs.
If you can find a boost controller that does C02 and have independent speed inputs, it'll be ideal
