Any tips on installing an Alky kit? Where do you guys have the controller mounted and what setting is it on? Should I get ZR1 map? What's a fair price for labor? Thanks folks.
I have the controller mounted in the glove box. I have no idea what labor would be as I installed it myself. If you plan to run the kit off a map, you need one that can read boost for sure.
The alky control kit comes with its own boost reference box. You just provide a vacuum/boost line to it. There was no need for me to change the map sensor. I installed it myself no idea on the cost. I installed my controller just in front of the hood opener bottom of the dash. I believe it should take a shop 6-8 hours to install. You figure install cost by there hourly rate. You will also need to consider a retune cost also. The shop my give a break on the tune cost if they do the install. The controller setting is going to depend what your purpose is going to be with the system. I just use mine for lowering the intake temps. My vett got tuned with it on a 3 setting. A buddy of mine was tuned at a 2 setting. There are people you use it as an octane booster. The setting will be higher. Julio provides a nice write up instructions for his alky control kit install.
If running MAF only then nozzle has to be after MAF, so you'll need to move the IAT to after that.. adding it to the intake manifold is a fairly common option. MAF-->nozzle-->IAT
If running SD and you still have a MAF then you can use the IAT in the MAF and spray meth before the MAF and it'll pick up the temp drop that way. Nozzle-->MAF/IAT
If running SD and don't have a MAF at all then you already have the IAT relocated somewhere so just spray before it and it'll be fine. Nozzle-->IAT

Anthony with LG did my alky tune. My buddy had Pat G do his alky tune.
I do trust these tuners with there knowledge and experience. We just using it as a temp reducer not any type of octane boost.
All I can say is if Julio tells me that a setting of 2- 3 is asking for trouble, I listen. It makes the pump lazy and start up slowly. Is should be 5 minimum and the amount actually sprayed can be adjusted with the other settings. That's is why the other settings are there.
