Default Traction help

trying to see if anyone has any tips or tricks I haven't tried yet.

My car is a auto 416ysi car on a 3.125 pulley, it makes 840rwhp. I am running a 315mt et streetR on a 17in ccw wheel. I am a narrow body car and don't have the money right now to do fenders and a 15in conversion. I cant get the car to hook from a 40roll in second gear. With a burnout and 16lbs in the tires it hooks for a second and breaks loose as the blower comes in. I have tried putting a 60lb bag of sand in the back and no help. Any sugestons?

Throw a 3.5" pulley on it or keep saving your pennies.

Try to tighten up those sway bars if you can or grab some adjustable shocks, from the one test hit I made the other day on black asphalt the 305/45/17 were hooking 2nd. I also run the ride tech shocks that feel great.

I'd think you should be able to hook that up with an auto in 2nd gear for sure. Lots of guys with more power and 6 speed hooking up those speeds from what I can tell on a 17" tire. I have the MT ET street R with ~900whp and have yet to get a clean pull from 2nd gear with tires aired down but they hook all of 3rd easy so I'd think with some heat in them and air down they should hook up 900whp at a 40mph roll. My car is a heavy pig and only suspension modes are a straight line focused alignment and coilovers set at stiff. My car hooked up better on stock shocks too I think, if I could do again I'd get the viking double adjustables and get rid of these LG coilovers.

I'm not sure what tire psi SloPoc is running or what else he is doing but I made some 2nd gear test hits yesterday and with tires at 20psi hot on good black asphalt, rolling into the throttle, my car has no hope of hooking up 2nd from a 40 roll. Maybe my car just sucks. Have 17" ET Street R, with straight line traction alignment, LG coilovers set pretty stiff because if I soften them the car wheel hops, z51 sway bars. Car has a D1SC and made 900whp and 860tq through a 6 speed. Plus my car is a fat pig with LSX iron block and base model chassis, heated seats, stereo, etc.

I have seen cars with more power than mine hooking up on hoosiers and that TRC nitrous dodge viper making same power as me seems to hook up great on 18" MT tires so not sure....

Have you thought about a boost controller? They make some good systems for superchargers now. You could ramp the boost over a few seconds until you are hooked.

I know all the nitrous guys run progressives.

Getting traction in 2nd gear with over 800+ rwhp seems impossible without a 15" tire. I just put on a fresh set of MT 345/35/18 and in 3rd gear I can put the power down.
When I try 2nd if I roll into it I have traction initially, but then it breaks loose as the rpms climb. Forget about flat stabbing it, useless.

Don't know how some other guys are doing it!

I just put new M&H 17s on and its night and day improvement over the same tires that I took off which were worn, but not finished. They are much better when fresh, although still no way its hooking second. Just have to use restraint and roll into it.

I think my expectations were probably too high for these ET street R, which are brand new. I haven't done a ridiculous john force burnout with them and also haven't tried them at some low psi like 16psi yet as not comfortable driving them on the street or 1/2 mile that psi, so maybe that will help and I can hook 2nd at the local 1/4 when I try that one of these days.

Even at 20psi warm the et street r obviously sucks bad in turns and not super stable.

wish there was a cheaper way to put 15" rear rim on these cars.
