searching around i can't find a real answer, does there need to be some sort of resistor from my sex controller to the tps sensor wire i tap into or can i just go straight to it?

Either you have the wrong forum OR you and Edward Smith, a mecaphile, have a ton in common.......

I ran a ZEX system using the TPS trigger for years on my truck without any resistor. As far as I remember, the ZEX box needs to "learn" the voltage that your vehicle sees at WOT. I just followed the instructions and it worked fine.
Just make sure that you use the right wire for the trigger and be careful not to damage the wire when you splice into it.

On my old car that wasn't a corvette I also ran it without a resistor.
you can wire it up straight to the TPS wiring...i bought it once for my C6 NOS system and couldnt make it work...ended up calling ZEX and they informed me that for the C6 instead of using the gas pedal to send the signal thru the TPS u need to take the filter off and manually flip the throttle blade in the TB by hand to WOT and hold it there for a few seconds until the unit light turns green..i did this but stil couldnt get my solenoid to engage..i couldnt make it work...i must have had a bad connection..i took it off and went the manual way with my wiring....know this though, the TPS sends a a voltage signal that is very low without the wire tap..0-5 volts...when you tap into it u are hoping that the full signal is sent to the ZEX unit and the TPS ,,,it may be too weak to signal both units - the OEM TPS and the ZEX unit.....

I put a ZEX wet system on my 2006 corvette. The car has 2 tps circuits, one runs from 0v- 5v and another circuit 5v-0v. I had an issue where the NMU would spray while I was at a dead idle. I called zex and they said to make sure it's on the 0-5 circuit first off and as far as the resistor wire I had to buy a resistor to put in line with the circuit. It's a 84k ohm by .5watt resistor. I was able to get it at my local electronics store for about 20 cents. If I hooked up the NMU without the resistor my vette would have a check engine light and go into LIMP mode. The only thing I can come up with is that the NMU has a lower internal resistance than the stock computer and electricity will take the path of least resistance. Therefor when a resistor is in line with the NMU it can only monitor voltage on the TPS sensor rather than have the computer have a b**** fit.
