Hey guys, I'm looking for a daily driver drag radial tire. I currently have 345/30/19 Nitto NTO5R and they did ok but I was wondering if there's a better option for possibly a little more traction? Maybe a taller tire? I have a 17" wheel with M&H tires that I use at the track but this car see's street duty most of the time and I don't want to replace my 19" wheels. The Nitto's are pretty much worn out so I need something for this spring. Thanks for any help.
I had the NT05r also. Mine are about done so I'm going with the NT01 this time. I'll let you know how it goes but I wasn't racing the car but was looking for a change. Other than that, there's also the toyo R888.
The MT ET Street SS will hook better, but not a taller tire. I have them in 325/30/19 and they hook fairly well at 750whp on the street. They will hook better than the Nittos and I have no problems using them for daily driving.

Do you have any issues with vibration? Numerous posting and some friends experience with early adoption of that tire showed lots of vibration at highway speed. I believe my friends were the 20" version so that may be specific to that size.
My 18" Et street SS walk all over the place anywhere faster than 50. Worst tires I've ever run.
I would stick with the nt05r.
This was the story I was getting. I recently picked up the NT01 to give them a shot over the NT05R that I've had for the last two seasons. Guess we will see how they do.
I'd stick with nt05r. they worked great on my car up to about 700whp-ish although its amazing how much better they were when they were new vs how they are now. nt05r do not age well. last surprising amount of time too.
No, just driving to work. Cruise control on, light throttle, no throttle.
Can swap the 15" wheels on and drives like a dream. 18" ET street 2s drove great too. SSs do not. Only change is tires.
My 19" ET Street SS aren't quite that bad. I'm in the process of dropping down to 18" rears and was going to try the SSs just for street use and go with 19" NT05Rs or R888s for high speed events.
I considered going to 17" Welds, but I'm trying to keep this thing a street car. If I went 15s or 17s, I would be too tempted to go full retard on the streets.
I'm running a 305/35/19 et ss.
I have no issue with traction and it drives fine other then above 80 it'll start to wiggle if I'm light throttle and catch a groove if I give it a tad more it straightens out. But just feels weird when it happens. When I had et ss on my 15s I never had this issue.
I've got about 4 summers on my NTO5r's and they are just about at the wear bar now. Never noticed any high speed issues with them so maybe I'll just get a new set. Now that they've picked up all the oil and crap off the street for 4 summers they definitely don't hook like they did when new.
NT05R's did great for me at 780. I knew I needed more traction when I did some upgrades and for some 17" Welds with some M&H's to swap on when doing business. Best of both worlds.
The M/T tech. told me there Street Drag ET Radials would not work on a manual trans. car. But M/T has just come out with some Bias Ply tires for a manual trans. and the M/T Tech. agreed with me on they would need Bias ply tires on front with them.
I wish we could get M/T to make us some ET Pro tires in a 19" size or a Drag Slick.Does anyone know of a company that makes the Drag Slicks in a 19" wheel size?
Like others on here my NittoNT05R are about 1/2 gone and so has traction. Being a Drag Racer all my life I have seen fellow racers have good luck using a tire softener on there older slick with some improvement so I'm thinking about trying that on my NTO5R.
I've been a Mickey Thompson man my whole life with all my old school cars, although I never had a DR bigger than 17. Looking to buy my first set for the Vette with stock 19's and was set on the ET Street SS. Now I'm all confused with the high speed issues you guys are talking about even above 50 mph. I might have to try the NT05R. Hmm.....
