The real answer is you need more octane. 93 just isn't going to cut it. Maybe it survives a little bit depending on how it's driven and how it's tuned, but it will last a whole lot longer with more octane via meth, race fuel, E85, etc.

Reliability wise I'd rather have a 700rwhp setup w/E85 than a 600rwhp set on 93 without meth
thats what i was thinking that its possible but not very smart and not gonna be reliable. thanks for the help

"Add meth injection, remover the plate and 750/800 rwhp is no problem."

"Basically a set pulley size/blower will make a set power level."

unreal and doug: interesting and actually makes sence, hp depending on the amount of air moving through the engine.

however, my c5 with the ecs novi 1500 and 3.48 pulley doesnt even come close, its around 500rwhp @15 psi w/o restrictor. also, if you do 345 hp x 2 (pressure ratio) - 60 hp (assumption blower loss) and substract 20% for the a4 you get 500 rwhp. so where could 750 come from? where is the catch?

You have a major issue then, belt slip, leak, restriction, timing, blow by, etc.

If you are moving 750rwhp of air but only making 500rwhp, something is wrong with the setup.

nothing wrong with the car, just with the math somewhere. i run ecs base kit on a stock ls1b and i dont think they tell you it will make the kind of power mentioned. belt is just fine, had it for two years now.

so i looked into it some more. a novi1500 is a vortech, right? no idea which one, does anybody know? anyways, all their 3.5" blower are pretty similar. if the novi1500 compressor map looks anything like this:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/07...87759233695377

and the speed @ 6000 is 6000 x 3.6 X 7" / 3.5" = 43 000

we get to around 750 cfm at a pressure ration of 2. that would be around 600 bhp. they rate the blowers at 725-775 bhp max. and we were talking rwhp, right?

well, actually the novi must be a little bigger that this, because the 43 000 line doesnt even really touch the 2:1 pressure ratio. and this is not accounting for loss through intercooler.

but when spun to 45 000 the blower seems to be putting out almost 1100 cfm at pr of 2. such a huge difference? hm.

Novi 1500 is a Paxton. However, Paxton is owned by Vortech.

Max HP ratings are theoretical. Novi 1500s have time and time again put over 900rwhp out. Ysis/2200s 1150-1200rwhp with ease yet they are rated for less at the crank.

Seems like 850'ish on c6's and 900'ish in c7's is the limit on 1500's. I always assumed the DI engines were slightly more efficient which was why they made a little more

Either way they're def good for more than 750 rwhp on this platform

o.k.guys, tell me more about it (im considering getting a c6). im spinning the 1500 to 43k and getting around 700bhp/500rwhp out of it. it can do 55k. so will that produce 1100bhp/850rwhp on a ls3? if they say 825 hp, dont they mean bhp?

has anybody seen a compressor map of the unit? i have mailed paxton several times over the last 3 years (also about torque specs on the mounting studs) and they never got back.

Technically they are both owned by Air Power Group, but that's for a different discussion.

That's what we have seen here, C5's top out a little over 750/800, C6's 850, and C7's 900.

It's just the better efficiency of the engines.

do you have a compessor map to share? novi1500 is v-3 t trim, right? there is an overlay map on vortechs site, but it lacks the speed lines.
