I'd think with 800-850whp max that stock head castings would be fine for now if budget an issue?

what do you guys run for head bolts? i currently have ARP bolts for my stock heads, is there a kit to add on to this one for 6 bolt heads? is there other options besides the $600 arp 6 bolt heads stud kit? doesnt block need to be machined for the stud kit?

No block machine work. BTR sells an add on kit I believe.

I'm running the $600+ ARP 6 bolt set.

They get way more expensive than that. Hell the 6 bolt head gaskets are like $250 compared to $60.

My experience, if you are doing a build like this, and $1000 even makes you think twice, you need to step back and examine what you are doing.

its the fact that my 8 rib setup cost the same as a set of bolts and a 2 gaskets lol just seems odd that the 4 bolt head bolt set is 150 but you add 2 more bolts to a cylinder and now its 700

Your first call should be to Scoggin-Dickey. They'll be able to source what you need.

What kit and what gaskets? LSX block uses some different gaskets from a base LS block.

id assume i need to change timing cover gasket/ rear gasket/ water pump, valley cover, oil pan, oil pump.
was hoping they made a rebuild kit with everything needed versus buying individually
do you guys reuse these gaskets?

Depends on which gasket.

There is no oil pump gasket on a dry sump car. Water pump gaskets are cheap so just replace them. Valley cover I've reused multiple times. Timing cover gasket is same. Rear gasket is unique to LSX.

just out of curiosity to the guys that have done these builds: what was your break-in process. I know usually with new engine you will break it in but also need to break in a new clutch. I have to get new tune before i can really open much up being so much is changing. What do you guys suggest as a start up/break in procedure. hopefully car will start with current tune i have and then i can idle for a bit to make sure no leaks before bringing to tuner
