Default 1200HP C6...Powerglide or TH400

I'm considering going Auto soon, but I'm not sure if I want to go with the Powerglide or the TH400. My car is 2010 GS with Ysi A&A kit and a little nitrous support. I make around 1200whp. The car will be strictly 1/4 mile and dig race car. I don't care about drivability, I basically want the transmission that will put me quicker in the 1/4.

The only advantage I see in Th400 is the 3 gears vs 2 gears in the power glide. The final gear for both transmission is 1:1 so only the first gears are different.

Everything else is better about the Glide. Its lighter, handles more power, and it fits straight up just like the manual transmission without any modification or cutting on the car.

Which transmission would you go with and why? I will be using RPM Transmissions for all the parts.

I agree with you but from what I have seen these fast guys are making 1500rwhp on average Im a little slower than that. Not having to cut the car up is very nice so I bet you will see more cars with a glide.

How much does your car weigh? Typically a 400 is better for a heavier car and the glide is better for a lighter car - all else being equal.

That said, even if your car is 3500+, the easy installation of the glide will likely win out.

Best of success with your project.

I vote for the 'glide as well. With that kind of power at that weight all you would need to worry about is getting the right converter. The best thing would be a bolt-together from one of the top converter companies, so that you can change stators yourself if necessary.

I'm going to use Coan or Pro Torque for the converter.

Either one of those two companies make great converters.

Mine made 930 b4 the glide and in hot *** weather it ran a 9.8 @ 151 exactly as I drive it on the street, first pass off the trailer before it kept blowering cooler pipes off. (No bead rolls on stock a&a pipe work). 151 is good for high 8s
