heads recommendation
Hello,
Planning on having the ls7 heads rebuilt soon because of the issue they have. I currently have v3si kit from A&A with a 4"pulley making a little over 620hp.(Everything else is stock)
I would love to have around 700hp or close to it without having to go to a smaller pulley. I was thinking maybe a set of ported heads and water/meth injection?
Any recommendations?

Pulley and meth is cheaper and will make more.

Agreed, but heads need to be done on a ls7 for safety reasons.

Sm0kinVette - I was in the same situation as you with A&A kit and making around 615hp. I then went with AHP stage 4 ported heads which got me to 645hp. And now the car runs on E85 and I'm over 710hp with stock cam and exhaust manifolds, but with B&B PRT cat-back. E85 is the $hit!!!

I would think ported heads would give a bit more than 35hp considering the price makes me think if I should just get the heads rebuilt versus going after market and maybe run water/meth or e85?
What pulley size are you running?

I have TFS 265 heads, 4" pulley and meth and make about 675rwhp with conservative timing and 10.9:1 AFR. I think a couple degrees of timing and 11:5:1 AFR, I'd get pretty close to 700 rwhp.

At power levels below 1000RWHP Stock heads are fine, Save your money replace exhaust valves and get guides fixed/replaced and send stock TI intake valves back to Del West and let them polish/inspect them. And porting is up to you it will help but like you saw in the previous post its not super critical if you want to make more power. Stock heads I've been sending to Advanced Inductions or Letting Greg Good do them if he's not to busy to get them back to me in a timely manner. GL!

Might just get the head rebuilt with better valves.
looked at e85 but in my opinion it seem like to much money for the gain, especially if I plan on keeping the stock block.
Was thinking of dropping from a 4" to 3.8" pulley and get an alky control kit with a single 15 nozzle. and some nice headers. What do you guys think of the 3.8 pulley with the ls7? safe?

I think the main concern is power on the stock Sleeves and other engine components. Not sure the boost being 6 vs 8 psi would make or break things just from the pressure. It's the heat/power that it creates. What are you making to the tires before you pulley down?
Edit: my phone didn't load the whole first post. I'm at 800 on the stock block. I'd say low to mid 700s might be the last time most mention "safe" but it's all in the tune and how you use the power. Doesn't sound like pulleying down some is a huge issue with a good tune and good fuel.

A stock block is even fine at 1K rwhp if its built the Grey iron sleeves do crack easier, but they usually crack due to the stock piston coming apart or a valve being dropped usually the exhaust valve head coming apart at the stem etc... The main thing is going to be having a great tune up on the car with stock internals. Detonation will just end its life prematurely and or not having the heads checked out and straitened out.

I will deff take care of the heads soon. Car still has a bit under 6k miles.
I asked the shop I got my last tune from and they said that they do not do meth dependent tunes.
