Default Exhaust question

I am looking to purchase headers x pipe and an exhaust right now. I plan to supercharge next. I found a deal on kooks 1 3/4 jet coated headers and 3 inch off road x pipe for around 5 to 6vhundred less than the set of arh 1 7/8 i have been looking into. I am going to keep the car in the 600 to 650 hp range. I have read countless threads on this and am not sure if the header size will matter at my hp level. I did read somewhere that the bigger header will lower my boost but i am not sure on that as well. Also noticed arh are 304 steel and kooks are 409 not sure if thats worth the extra money as well. Car will be a street ride 95% to the track 1 or 2 times a year just to see what it can do. Thanks i just do jot want to buy twice.

Don't worry about the loss of boost, it'll be minimal if any. 3" is a good idea. I have obx(ebay) headers/2.5" exhaust and I'm making a lot more than 600

running same exhaust. I get 14lbs of boost (ECS 1500) and I'm sitting around 700rwhp.

If you don’t plan to go beyond 650rwhp, those will do just fine. If you have bigger plans down the road, I would go right to 2” ARH.

If the bucks were the same, get the bigger tubes for sure. That's not the case here though. Get the smaller/cheaper headers. They won't leave much on the table. If you want more, the $'s are there for an -Alky control meth kit.

Thanks for the replies I can buy either set but money is def a factor. I am on a budget but that is why i want the right set. I am looking at a set of jet hot kooks 1 3/4 with 3" off road x for 1150 brand new. I was figuring around 1700 uncoated arh 17/8 with x. I want coated mainly for cosmetic reasons. Arh i will prob add 300 for coating. I also dont want to save the money and wish i would of went the other way. Thanks for feedback i am 50/50 on pulling the trigger on set the 1150 set up. I plan to keep car around 600 i dont need anymore than that and prob dont need that lol.

I would run stock manifolds until you can grab something better IMO. You can make 600+ with stock manifolds just fine.

Thanks for the replys and help. I am going to go with 1 7/8 headers. I found a used kooks x pipe that goe a from 3" to 2.5 i am debating if i should buy it and save the money or wait and buy a zo6 x pipe and 3" exhaust. Is there a benefit going 3 inch out compared to 2.5? On 600 hp. S/c Ls2.
