Default E-Force Belt Issues

Having belt issues on an Edelbrock 1593 installed on a '06 LS2. Kit was bought in October 2013 and installed, A couple of years ago a local shop installed headers and a smaller pulley. I do not know the exact size of the pulley, but it appears to be 3.5". The car is not driven much. Every time I drive the car, since the header and pully upgrade I get a burning rubber smell under moderate boost. (No, its not the tires). Last October the shop installed a smaller belt. This did not solve the problem. I still have a burning rubber smell under moderate boost.

In the picture below, if you look for the blue piece of tape, between the belt and the water pump fitting it is black. It appears that the belt has been rubbing against this. There is not a lot of clearance between the belt and this fitting to begin with, maybe 1/2",

I see that Edelbrock has a tensioner upgrade kit for kits manufactured prior to February 2013. Kits sold after this date have the improved tensioner. I have no way of knowing when my kit was built, only that it shipped from Edelbrock in October 2013. Is there any way I can look a my tensioner and determine if it is the old or the improved tensioner?

Also, is it worth trying an even smaller belt? If so, what brand and size?

Thanks in advance for all help/suggestions.

Looks like your belt is misaligned. More pics would be helpful but your belt looks like it’s coming up on the edge of the pulley? That’s your problem. The shop probably didn’t install the belt or pulley correctly.

Take it back to them or get a laser pulley alignment tool (Dayco makes a good one that doesn’t need calibration), remove the belt, and find what pulley is misaligned.

Would an alignment problem cause the belt to rub against the water pump fitting as shown in the picture?

Possibly. Fix your alignment issue first and see if that takes care of the rubbing issue.
