Just wanted to throw this out and see what y'all think. I pulled much of these choices by reading here, the best source for Corvette Intel.
Cars an 06 Z51 with A&A Vortech kit, LG long tubes with cats, NPP is about all for hp mods. Recently my A6 crapped out on me so sending it to Circle D for a rebuild. I didn't have any extra cooling for the trans and that's the major reason for its demise. The car isn't dragged, not tracked but it can sit in traffic occasionally and summers here can be in the mid 90's and is sometimes driven pretty hard where temps have gone up higher then I would like. So here's the plan as of now to address that flaw.
All will be done at the same time as the trans going back in the car. First a Dewitt's full size radiatior with the EOC and TOC, a B&M fanned trans cooler unit ( smaller version) fed fresh air through one of the fog light openings. Fluid going through the rad first then the B&M and back to the A6. Thoughts, comments? Thanks
I wouldn’t waste money on the Dewitt’s. Just do an external cooler and call it a day.
thought about that but since I've been researching after the auto gave up I've learned that the 6L80 is very heat sensitive and can do a lot of damage very quickly and it doesn't take a ton of heat to do it. Problem is getting a large enough cooler in the very limited space available that can cool substantially, not easy to accomplish With the IC taking up prime real estate up front. This way with a quality radiator and fanned cooler I'll keep my oil, coolant and trans fluid at safe numbers, hopefully. With the trans fluid I'd rather err on the side of more is better then not enough. I'd rather spend the extra now on a Dewiits then buy another transmission in year or two.
