Default Need help with heartbeat bolts

The top lid came with most of the bolts installed in the lid.
Two bags where tie wrapped to the front cooling line, each bag has two bolts, one has two 6 X 20 and one has two 6 X 25.

In the instructions is says to use the two bolts that are in the bag attached to the cooling tube for the front two holes.

It does not say what the length is. The other two are obviously for the rear under side of the lid.
I need to know are the shorter ones for the front and the longer ones for the rear or the other way around?

thanks
chuck

Chuck ...

If your like me, you won't be installing those two rear / center lid bolts anyway.

Myself and my son in law who is an ASE Master Tech tried for more than an hour to install those two bolts ..... then we gave up!

Have not had any problems with the lid lifting, and the boost stays at 8 PSI with a 90mm drive pulley.

Anyway, I can't answer your question about the length of those two bolts.

Sorry ...

Drop the rear cradle as much as you can, remove the passenger valve cover and you "should" be able to reach it. I have small hands and it wasn't an issue.
I don't remember the length either.

My brother just called and said his book for the LS7 heartbeat has a diagram at the end that shows the bolts and all the lengths.
The 25mm go in the rear and the 20 in the front.
The install instructions for the LS3 did not have that.
I would think it is the same on the LS3. I will let Magnuson know that they need to include it in the LS3 version.

Also I have large hands and arms and had asked on this forum about the rear bolts and any tips.
One of the forum members told me he had the same problem and that if I remove the pass side valve cover that I would have more room.
I did and now I can reach in and touch both of the rear cover holes with the finger tips.
So I will have a friend of mine (who is about 5' 6" and has small hands and arms) try to put the bolts in. I think it will be no problem for him.
I also have the spacers from Lingenfelter installed which give 1/4 more room (keeps supercharger from rubbing the hood insulation).

https://www.lingenfelter.com/PROD.ht...7#.XT3bYkd7nVg

thanks

Read your post after posting the one above.
I think it is doable.

Thanks!

Good luck installing those two rear bolts ...

BTW .... I never had to remove the hood insulation on my GS .... and I get no rubbing of the SC lid.

All I get is two very very small marks on the insulation from the ribs in the black rubber throttle body inlet hose (big hose between the TB and the air filter housing)

I have the spacers also but I ended up temporarily lowering it more than a 1/4" just to get to the bolts easier. (if there is such a a thing)

Not sure what length bolts go where. Will check my install manual later in the day and post back if I find anything. The two rear bolts are a real bitch to deal with I’ve done them three times now. S-Hurley is right: if you lower the engine down a bit and pull off the passenger side valve cover, you can squeeze your forearm (I don’t have a small forearms, so it was real fun) in behind the blower and reach into the cavity on the back side of the blower and then you have to contort yourself and twist your arm into a pretzel to get those little bastards in there. I then used a variety of tools, including a 1/4” drive ratchet and 10mm socket and a small 10mm open end wrench to tighten them. I once used a **** load of extensions and a universal and had a friend insert that from under the car and then I reached in to place the socket on the bolts. That was with the headers off though and it was still a bitch to deal with. I may very well have expanded my lexicon of expletives on that job. Magnuson really phuqued us with those two little bolts for sure. Would gladly bore two holes in my cowl to get to them, if they had just put the threads in the blower body like all the other bolts.

Got them in, have to take off the valve cover for sure.
My friend with smaller hands and arms got in there but it was tight.
Used a small bore (snake) camera on my lap top (it has a light on it) and was able to see the bolts while trying to get the box end on them.
The closer one (pass side) was harder than driver side.
Put lots of lock tight on them and got them as tight as we could.
So I should be good.

thanks everyone.
