Looking to boosting my stock engine 2008 LS3. I have an auto A6 with the 2.56 gearing and stock rear end. I’m only looking to drag race/roll race. Nothing at a road course
What I’m looking for is - what procharge kit would work best for me.
Do I NEED to upgrade anything in my engine in order to run the boost safely.
what can my stock trans hold without me having to build it.
If there is any threads on this please just link them!! Thank you guys. You da best.

Stock motor will hold it all. I’d go with a d1 or d1x kit personally if your dead set on procharger brand. Leaves plenty of room up top should you get serious while still allowing you to make less power to start with.
Stock trans is going to be the kicker here. We didn’t have great luck on our blower 6l80 car as the first time I took it to the track on a radial it shifts hard and now doesn’t like to shift uptop at wot. We are debating between another stock 6l80 or a built 4l60 or a built 6l80.
From what I have seen the trans with a good tune should hold a bit but it will be a big shot in the dark that we lost the bet on.
Don’t know much about he trans since I’m a manual but the LS3 will hold a lot of power stock with proper tuning and fuel. Mine has over 40k boosted miles on it.
I’m at 825 stock ls3(cam and springs) 15lbs on e85 and stock trans/converter. About 2000 miles on this power level so far so good. No quarter mile passes yet. Planning to do the Texas mile in October.
I would go with a D1-X setup with custom brackets (apparently the stock Procharger ones aren’t that great?) and put an FTI 3600 stall in it, do a 15” wheel conversion kit and let it eat. You don’t need to “upgrade” the trans, but you definitely need the right tuner, someone like Pat G or Bluecat. Like the LS3 bottom end, the stock trans will take lots of power, but only if it’s tuned right. As far as what kind of power the stock LS3 can take, Detoxx has already proven that the SBE LS3/D1-X combo can make serious power with no issues.
You can always add a blower cam for more power and, if you have it available, E85 is the way to go for max power.
The quickest/fastest A6 C6 has a D1-X and is running a stock GM trans, with that converter, tuned by Bluecat, and last I saw it was knocking down 5.6/126 and 8.6/160 in the 1/8 and 1/4 respectively. That’s badass.
LS3 loves the boost straight outta the box! We have installed several UPP Twin Turbo kits on them and make 700whp+ outta the box at wastegate pressure (7psi) with tons of room to grow. If you want a Procharger. Go with the A&A kit setup with Procharger bracket and you'll have to source headunit from elsewhere. This is what I have done for my F1A setup and it's working great! I believe Detoxx has A&A brackets also for his Procharged setup.
