Default Headers sizing

At what HP level would headers with 2" primaries be beneficial?

LS3, Vortech CSC, 3" exhaust, Borla S-Type

I still use my 1 3/4 kooks on my ls3. And with e85 I’m at 750whp through an auto.

dont get caught up in primary sizing.

I made over 1000hp on 1 7/8 primaries.

Unless you're trying to squeeze every last drop of HP its not worth the cost, fitment, etc.

There's actually been some few tests here, but I didn't search for them. IIRC, 2" starting helping at a lower HP/TQ point than I would have guessed.

The tests that were done used dyno test, IIRC.

with a quick search found these

Thanks for the responses.

It made 677 HP\633 TQ with 1 7/8ths headers. They are not coated and put a lot of heat into the engine compartment. I was pondering pulling them and having them coated. Then got to thinking that as long as they were off it is an opportunity to upsize to 2" at the same time if it was useful to do so.

I read the linked threads. Seems as though 2" is good, maybe a little better even for the level I am at. I am not looking to make more. (Well, I am swapping from a 3.6 to a 3.4 pulley next week. LOL) If I can find a set of 2" headers, get them coated and swap them it would be good.

Yes everyone put down 1000whp with 1 7/8... but they probably put down 1050 with 2''....
