Default Methanol vs c16

Why do people spray meth and then people spray c16 with nitrous? For detonation would spraying c16 at WOT be better? Than meth? Ik meth has cooling properties

why c16 when e85 is readily available. I run E and still shove meth down my engines throat. The cooling with E and meth is pretty ridiculous.

Meth is hands down the better option for F/I applications.
C16 is leaded and will eventually destroy your O2 sensors. It also will not give you anywhere near the cooling effect of methanol.
Some folks use use a separate stand-alone fuel system with C16 as augmentation fuel for N2O, thinking that the higher octane of C16 makes it safer to run nitrous than just using pump gas, but the truth is that they’re adding very little fuel (if their nitrous system is jetted correctly) when they’re spraying anyway.
With nitrous, which has its own dramatic cooling effect, there really is no “need” for the cooling effect of methanol.
However, some folks that have mastered the jetting with methanol have seen benefits from using that as augmentation fuel for nitrous, especially in 2-stroke applications.

The meth adds some octane and cools the intake charge. It's popular in forced induction and depending on preference can be used and tuned diffrent ways.

The nitrous setup you described sounds to me like a wet system where a calculated amount of extra fuel is delivered to mix with the nitrous sprayed. This allows the stock computer to not have to worry about extra fuel while spraying. You can administer any fuel this way but c16 has one of the highest octanes.

Theoretically meth could work but it would be needed in higher volumes than c16

Someone please correct if i am wrong

I was just wondering about boosting and using c16 if it’s less prone to detonation than meth would be

Meth is going to give you a far better cooling effect. Meth + E85 like said before has some really great cooling potential. I use it and it works awesome for a centri car, i just spray the meth for the cooling, and a little detonation protection, my tune isn't dependent on the meth.

As far as detonation is really good at preventing it with out the other issues C16 would cause, plus its cheaper.

I still don’t understand the question here. Why would you want to run 10$+gal fuel when you can just spray meth on top of 93 and achieve the same results. A quick google will show you plenty of people making the same if not more power with meth injection. Most of the reason is the cooling capability. If you want the most reliable fuel then go E85 and spray meth on top of it. I would think e85+meth would put you somewhere in the 117-120 octane range.
