No need with modern turbos on a gas engine. You can get a decent responding setup that can still make that number. Just about getting the right size.
compounds are just starting in drag racing on gas engines. Manly on setups that need mega boost (smaller displacement). They are complex and add weight.
In a corvette chassis, packaging is the major limiting factor. smaller twins typically fits better in a stock corvette chassis. There's just easier ways to accomplish what you're trying to accomplish, without the added complexity and weight.
the path of least resistance is the route most people take. You can make 1200whp with either a big single or with twins. that's mainly a preference thing, how much fabrication you're willing to do, and where you want to fit it
