On a boosted engine, at what WHP level does an Inconel exhaust valve become advisable?

From what I’ve been told it’s anything above 1k, but depending on heat from boost it could be used below that just for reassurance. It’s still a stainless valve it just has the inconel properties embedded into it so it’s still a heavy valve.

Inconel is decently heavier than a steel valve. I wouldn't even consider it unless steel valves were going to let you down or under perform in some way.

Unless you are going to making ALOT of power and heat they aren't really needed. Something like a big power blower/turbo setup or a big n2o setup especially. Obviously they are better than SS but ehat really helps to not burn upp valves is proper valve seating. A good seat and bowl job would be advised as well./

IIRC, most V8 boat engines only run Inconel valves and valve seats...FWIW

I've read it's only required on exhaust valves & seats, for heat. Seems to be a marine staple.

as you do a sustained high boost pull the egts can get pretty toasty and the inconel valves make sense.

go rob the ly6 truck heads, they come with stock chevy iconel

I'm going to try and coat some TI exhaust valves and run e85 for cooler egts and on the street they will live

indy and boats do sustained WOT and inconel becomes a necessity not a luxury
