Default Hood Vents

We are finally closing in on finishing my project, a twin turbo build on a narrow bodied C6. Heat is causing some issues.

I have a stock hood on my C6 with the ACS ZR1 louvered piece cut into the stock hood where the window would be on the ZR1. It has not fully alleviated the heat issue associated with my car. I am trying to avoid big, vented hoods that scream aftermarket (like the LG World Challenge hood) because I want to keep the car looking relatively tame (when it is not on its 275 60 15).

I need to find vents/louvers for the left and right sides of the hood to release the air coming off the turbos/exhaust manifold area. I do not want the trackspec vents or anything that looks that racerish. I do want to try to keep looking OEMish in nature. Has anyone found anything that they can suggest? I have scoured the internet but I keep finding the same stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Do not mind the reflection. I was giving my friend, the body shop owner, the NJ salute.

Question on that hood vent as I was looking at doing that same one. What tool did you use to cut the hole?

See my avatar. I have the RK Sport Z06 Violator Hood that seems to match what you are looking for. At the recommendation of RK Sport I cut an opening at the cowl to improve heat extraction.

A sharp one...............

To be honest, the body shop did it for me. Not sure what they used. As this ACS vent cut into my hood is mounted/bonded from underneath, the whole hood (and the vent) needs to be repainted. Vent is nicely made and comes with a template (great template) and bonding agent. Ditch their agent and let a fiberglass specialist do his thing.

The finished product is nice. If my car was still a blower car, this would have been more than enough.

Thanks for the info. From the looks of it, I would still have to cut the center to use the ACS vent on my hood plus open up the sides on your hood. Where exactly did they have you cut it? If you could send a photo, that would be great. Thanks.

If the side vents were rear facing this may have been correct due to NACA duct negative pressure created.

I did not find this design to provide much in the way of temperature reduction. However, after cutting the opening at the cowl to align with backside of the center inside vent there was a noticeable improvement.

Which Mustang vents are those? That is probably what I need to do if the under hood heat continues to be oppressive.

In the interim, the new exhaust manifolds (we replaced them) have been wrapped with titanium wrap (different from the old wrap). Prior to the titanium wrap, the under hood heat would emit visible heat vectors for 30 minutes after shut down. It was like watching a closed BBQ grill.

Now, zero heat vectors.

The new wrap plus those side vents should be more than enough to keep under hood temps manageable.

You don’t want an aftermarket hood but ride around sometimes on 15’s??? 😂 could always get some track spec vents and cut the stock hood, heard they reduce temps quite a bit. Not as good looking as aftermarket hood, but not quite as in your face. I’m surprised someone hasn’t made a better looking design for the track spec style stuff.
