Thats the tricky thing about the 6L80Es. The tuning has to be near perfect, or your F'D. Ask me how I know.

This has been known for 15+ years regarding the 6l80e.

https://gearstar.com/6l80-transmissi...ith-converter/ is this what you bought? They rate this thing at 600HP. Bro, I'd be mad as fck with this trans. No disrespect
Why would I be "mad". They built me the tranny I specified, supplying some parts and it's been trouble free for the last year at 850whp. You honestly believe anyone will honor a tranny warranty on a 1000+hp build?
I suggest reading the horror stories tied to several well know builders of the 6l80e. I've had none of those issues nor has several drag racers Ive known running Gearstar built transmissions.
My calibration is done at Westech so I'm pretty confident in the setup and the final results are good reason to be satisfied
YMMV

If you decide to upgrade to the t-trim, just take your s-trim off and send it to vortech they can rebuild it as a t-trim and service it. It's less than $1000 bucks if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that! I'd figured I'd buy used and then re-sell mine. That would be a lot less hassle. I'll reach out to them.

7500$ for a transmission rated at 600hp. lol thats what i'd be mad about.

You could have that with a stock unit, Westech must be pretty good at tuning then if you've had no issues. Happy for you!

And yes, shops will warranty a 1000hp trans so long as they tune it.

$7k? I paid nowhere close to that. In addition my trans runs perfect at the current power level.
Sounds like you had issues...bummer.
So...feel free to have whoever you want build your 6l80e with a longterm warranty at 1000+hp.

Your kinda being defensive and an ******* for no reason. If it works for you then, great. I simply said i'd be PISSED if I paid 7500 (thats what the website says) for a transmission that was rated for 600HP. I bought one rated for 1100rwhp for 7800$ from Century, who does warranty their builds for 6 months.

Stop being so sensitive.

So you paid more for your transmission and recieved less warranty.
Got it!
And I'm the one that should "be pissed".

You received more of a warranty because you got less of a transmission, yeah I'd be pissed.

Wow glad you were present when my trans was built.
I'm certain your trans builder ie Century has the lock on parts utilized to make it reliable.

You paid $8k to build a 6l80e.
Enough said.

Grow up... you guys sound like little kids.

Rather than crap my thread up with your useless bickering, take it to PMs. No one wants to read this garbage and it's completely off topic.

Sounds like you just need to buy a 7500$ gearstar. I know a guy who raves about the quality.

when you want to go to 1000 + hp that's the price

not your money, so try your luck with whatever you chose that you think is a better deal and let the man decide what he'd like to do with HIS money

best of luck.
