Default Building a LS3 for boost

Hi folks, I will be building a LS3 to be boosted by a F1A on kill. Do you folks recommend keeping it stock displacement or going 416 or 427? Thanks for any recommendations.

Just add boost, that'll fix it. no need for a larger displacement.

I agree if you are boosting it displacement isn’t as big of a factor. I would just make sure you are gapped right and have the fuel to support. Save the boring for when you need it. I’m running a F1A and love it

No I have a LSX at a 4.125 bore I had the dreaded valve drop on my original motor so the car sat for about a year while I purchased the parts I wanted. So it is a 427ci. I have been running the stock intake for 2years and it sees usually 29-30 psi and still hanging in there. the car has gone 9.14 in the quarter at 162 but the only slips I could find for the fast list was 9.7 but it is my daily and has AC for summer time but it goes in storage about October . I am still on a T56 it’s the diffs that have had the issues. Just remember when you add horsepower. You’re always going to find the weakest link. So either you learn to rebuild everything you have, but you spend a lot of money to get it rebuilt. I have built everything on this car and at the end of the year this year I did throw a Nitrous shot on it just so I had something at the top end. it’s only 100 horse but it gives me that extra button when I need to get around somebody in fourth gear.

The picture above was when I was chasing down a spark issue so I had the coil packs and stuff off. I just put a picture of the blower that’s on it. I’ll get a picture of how it looks now tonight.

I was in the same boat as you last year and ended up getting Texas speed LS3 drop in pistons. No balance required.

I’m in Alberta. Yeah currency is poop and it’ll stay this way for a while.

Minus my OEM lifters **** the bed she made a healthy 1040whp on 16psi with room for more.

Texas speed LS3 drop in pistons and rods, btr stage 2 TT cam, springs, titanium retainers, trunnion kit, manton pushrods & Johnson lifters.

Bringing this back up as I'm finally getting around to building this thing. Anyhow, engine builder is recommending a Molnar 3.90 stroker crank, power adder rods and DSS blower pistons. I'm somewhat leery on the stroker crank but he assures me it's fine and the extra cubes will compliment my TFS 255 heads. Thoughts? Recommendations?

If you are going blower should be fine it’s more about ALL of the items Cam, heads, intake, exhaust, and boost level. If it were a turbo car they like the shorter stroke. I just finished my wife’s fifth generation Camaro with a 5.3 LC9 with a Bullseye 7876 turbo just started working on the tune but at the top it pulls like there’s no tomorrow. The taller stroke should be fine on a blower motor since your boost is built by engine RPM not exhaust flow. just my opinion you should be fine.
