So I had a shop swap the procharger bracket for an A&A one for my grand sport. The procharger tensioner was bending and I wanted to get ahead of any thrown or torn belts.
About 40 minutes into the drive, the car lost power and I immediately knew it was a boost leak. All of a sudden I heard a lot of air whooshing. Within a few seconds I run over something and sure enough I see a black 90 degree rubber elbow bouncing behind me. I was on a very narrow 2 way road and I couldn't pull over to get it.
After I get home I see that the elbow in the picture is what I'm missing.
My question is this. Those of you who went with the A&A bracket, the head unit is tilted slightly, so the pipe coming off is no longer vertical. Does anyone have a picture of what pieces you added to make the connections work?
I am pretty upset, but **** happens. Waiting to hear back from the shop once they open back up tomorrow.
Well upon further communication with the installer, it seems that the head unit and the oiling system was not clocked... I am debating doing this job myself since people say it's not too hard. Does anyone have a guide of any sort? I really am discouraged at this point because I spent over $1,000 on the bracket and then another $1k+ on getting the bracket swapped out. It's hard for me to take time off of my crazy work and would rather tackle it myself. However I am overly cautious when it comes to these sorts of things and I don't want to mess it up. If anyone has a D1SC oil gear and head unit clocking guide, I'd really appreciate it. The A&A kit had nothing in the instructions on this.
I am certainly no expert but I would not get too crazy with additional modifications until you get a new pipe and try to fit it yourself. It could be as simple as the shop did not properly connect and clamp the hose so it blew off. I recently installed a complete A&A system myself and I do know that connecting all the hose joints took a lot of patience and time to make sure the hoses were completely fitted and the clamps were straight and secured.
It is certainly possible that mixing another manufacturer's bracket with a current setup may not work but you will not actually know until you investigate.
I noted that in the diagram the BOV looks to be in front of the engine. Knowing how tight that is I would prefer the A&A setup with the BOV in front of the passenger tire in the fascia cavity.

I went ahead and reclocked the head unit myself. The oiling is fine as both procharger bracket and A&A need the 2 o'clock position.
I loosened the dogbones and slightly rotated the head unit/volute. It was a 10 min job. Now waiting on the 90 degree elbow to come in the mail tomorrow so I can get the car running again.
