Tune for a stock car
How much increase on horsepower can i expect for a stock car, i am tired of the damn sluggishness in the car at higher gear for ex: while coming off the ramp on high way at 45-55 and i put the foot down the car takes for ever to move. its soo weird but when at lower speeds the power is uncontrollable. I think the car is fine but i want a tune real bad and i dont want to wip out my pcm as it will leave the car undrivable. please also include the costs i can expect.

Don't expect much HP gain from a tune alone. It may be useful to you in firming up your transmission if you'd prefer that.
But actually it sounds like you've got a problem, because although the auto will be in 4th at 45 and RPM will be low, as soon as you get on it a bit it should unlock the TCC and downshift, at which point you should have plenty of power.
If it's not downshifting it's broke; get it fixed. Or try pulling it down to 2nd manually and see how it goes.

Is your car not downshifting properly, or what exactly is the problem. Obviously, as you go through the gear, the torque at the rear wheels diminishes (ie 2nd gear has half the accel of 1st, and 3rd has 1/3 the accel as first). You also have losses due to the torque converter.
If you feel something is amiss, you should have the dealer first repair any problems.
THEN, yes, I think you can get 20hp from a tune, plus revised shift points and rev limits. My stock 05 pulls great up to the safe 6900rpm limit that I put in (6900 is safe according to GM durability testing). Usually, good gains come from leaning the fuel curves, plus you can dial in a little more timing IF you have good fuel in your area.

David, what would be a nice good tool for these tunes? are you talking about something like ls2edit or hp tuners?
i also am going to remove the cat for some more gains... will definintely need the tune

when available, any will do the job. I'm using LS2edit, but it is only available for prior customers at this point. HPTuners etc will be available soon, and are all good programs.
You should consider either LG or Supermax headers with aftermarket CATS. While technically not emmisions legal, I think they would fly in most inspections, and will make nearly as much HP as no CATS at all.

Tunes will typically pickup about 15rwhp on the LS2 cars If you tweak the TCM at the same time you'll see really good performance gains!
We have the LS2 mail order tunes on special the rest of the month for $150!!

Torque Mgmt in Automatics an issue???
Not sure if I should ask this here but I've learned that the MN6 cars have to deal with Torque Mgmt in their (re)programming; question is-do you have to deal with the same torque Mgmt in automatic cars(C6 A4) and have that program reprogrammed with a tune or is this issue of TM only a MN6 issue?

it is an issue in both cars.
You can adjust universal torque limits (which kick in during shifts). Both torque converters and clutches give torque multiplication (high torque, but for very short periods of time) which can damage your drivetrain. You can raise these limits, or basically remove them (set them ridiculously high).
You can also adjust low rpm engine limits, rpm by rpm. Again, these can be raised a little, or a lot (removing, basically).
As I understand it, the "universal" limits are quite high, and do not need adjusting. The rpm limits can be raise and get rid of some of the noticable limits people are feeling.
