Default Reduced engine power, PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!

I just installed a Procharger kit on a 05, the day before I installed it I pulled out for a test drive . imediately upon stabbing the throotle to the floor(traction off) it died and gave me a reduced engine power on the dash and a check engine light. It flashes service traction system and stays in reduced engine power mode unitll I turn off the car . If it sits for a few minutes it will go away but the check engine light is still on.

The next day I came in to look it over and get ready to install the procharger. I started it up , no check engine light , took it for a ride and it was fine. So at this point I did the install on the procharger .

After it was complete and I got the program back from ED Wright I took it for a ride. Guess what ????? REDUCED ENGINE POWER!!!! ERRRRR!!

If I let it sit it will go away . sometimes the check engine light will stay on from the prevoius day sometimes it is not on .

When it does not do this the car screams!!!, but It will go back into reduced engine power mode at some point.

Does anyone have any idea what this is ?
It pulled a P2138 CODE, DONT HOLD ME TO THAT !! I have friends at the GM store but they are sckeptical to working on it . It did this before the install and now after , but trying to convince them of this is tough.

ANY HELP WOULD BE SO MUCH APRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

Well, P2138 is "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D/E Voltage Correlation".

Check connections at the TPS, maybe just a loose plug connection at the throttle body, or an over-range situation at the gas pedal switch.

Hope this gives you a starting point!
Good luck.

I had the same issue before I reactivated my tire sensors.

You turned the traction control off, correct?

Ha this is funny , the tire sensors are always flashing untill you go up the road some, then that goes away .

this car was in for new sensors at some point. any idea how to reset this ? think this could be my problem???

If you have the telescopic steering coluumn it might be covered by this TSB:

TSB 06.02.35.002

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C0710 Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) Signal, Service Stability System Message on Driver Information Center (DIC) (Inspect and Secure Wires in SWPS Connector)

2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette

with Steering Wheel - Tilt, Telescoping (RPO N37)

Condition
Some customers may comment on a Service Stability Message on the DIC.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a DTC C0710.

Cause
The most likely cause of a DTC C0710 on a vehicle equipped with telescoping/tilt steering wheel is high resistance in SWPS connector C202. Fretting terminal corrosion maybe present in the SWPS connector due to the telescoping motion of the steering column. When the steering column is telescoped in and out, the female terminals within the SWPS connector may move on the male terminals of the SWPS. This movement between the terminals may cause a high resistance condition in the SWPS connector.

Correction
Remove the driver's side close out panel.

Notice:

• Failure to properly tape the wires in the connector may result in additional concerns.

• Failure to use a small plastic strap 2.5-3.5 mm (0.10-0.14 in) in width may prevent the SWPS connector from properly seating, resulting in additional SWPS DTCs.

Using electrical tape (1), tape from the plastic strap up the wires a minimum of 2.5 cm (1 in).
Install a small plastic strap (2) 2.5-3.5 mm (0.10-0.14 in) wide around the SWPS sensor connector so that it retains the wires to the connector as shown.

Important: Install and remove the SWPS connector a minimum of three times to remove any possible terminal corrosion.

Reinstall the SWPS connector.
Reinstall the close out panel.

I have the same problem...but I get code P0068 something about the MAP and MAS...I have had two tuners on this issue and now one of them has the ECU to try to fix this problem...he said that he was going to reset the MAS parameters. The first tuner told me to go to the dealer and do the "cam variation relearn"...did it and nothing happened!!! This is very annoying speacilly if you are powershifting!!!

Had the same problem. Gone now after re-setting the P0068 field. See link below:

I think you get the P1514 P0068 error, ie engine inhales more air than accepted compared to TPS and VE.
Solution is to increase the P1514 table in Engine diagnostic.

I'm not going to hold you to the P2138 but if we are going to help diagnose this we need to be sure what we are working on.

The 2138 is a correlation issue between APP1 & APP2. (APP Accelerator Pedal Position) APP1 voltage signal typically goes from high voltage >4v to low voltage <1v and APP2 is opposite of that. The two TP signals at the throttle body do the same but are reversed. (TP1 Low-high) (TP2 High-Low) Since this code is focused only on the APP you need not to worry about the TB.

The official reason for the code is: The ECM detects that the difference between APP sensor 1 and APP sensor 2 is more than the predicted value for less than 1 second.

The vehicle most likely has a defective APP sensor. If you had a lab scope you could try sweeping APP1 vs APP2 several times looking for an erratic signal. If the wiring and connectors look good you may simply have to replace the APP and retest.

I hope you find this information helpful and please keep us posted on your progress.

Regards,

Scott
