I thought I wanted a performance tune but after reading all the negative comments I think maybe I'll leave GM engineering miracle alone.
I value you all wealth of knowledge and so Im asking your do I need to get a tune after I install my Kooks 1 3/4 headers.
I have a bone stock 2006 C6 6sp with a K&N filter and Corsa Sport cat back exhaust system

I am told that there may be warranty issues if you tune. That said, my 06 mn6 runs much better with a modified predator tune. Your header installation may require some tuning as headers tend to lean you out a bit.
Your car will adjust itself to the headers without any tunes or anything.GM has equipment that can check for tunes on trucks and stuff but not vettes yet, from what i've heard.Your 06 will be out of warranty soon if it's not already so wait it out if it makes you feel better.

Not true. Your car WILL throw codes if the cats are deleted w/o a tune and possibly even with cats. Also, you will not realize the true gains w/o a tune. If done by a GOOD tuner, you will not have any adverse affects from the tune. And if you're worried about the warranty because of adding a tune, wait until the dealer sees those headers. Get a tune from COW. You will thank me.

Well, first off he didn't say anything about deleting cats...all he said was installing kooks headers, which does not require tuning. As a matter of fact,no mods he mention require a tune.SO YES,IT IS TRUE!
You will eventually require at least a minimum tune or possibly a handheld Diablo Predator tuner.
Chevy uses a dual O2 sensor system on each side to test the Cats. The front O2 sensor inputs AFR changes and the rear should be flat as the CATS burn any excess fuel. However, for the Cats to light off, they must reach a very high temperature. C6 cars have the OEM Cats up front bolted directly to the cast iron exhaust manifolds. This is so they heat up almost immediately after startup.
Now, you install long tube headers and a hi-flow X pipe and the Cats are down wind a lot further and it takes them longer to fire up. The second O2 sensor output is not flat until it comes up to temp and this sets a P0430 or P0420 code meaning the Cats are not working. The car will still run fine, you will just be staring at the check engine light periodically.
Most tuners can tune out the rear O2 sensor or supress the Cat codes. You can also do this yourself with a hand held Predator.
If you use a Predator, you can re-install the factory tune in 5 minutes for dealer visits and then install your performance tune afterward.
Been around since 2004 I kind of think you know what your talking about.
I am running the Kooks high flow cats. Reckon I better start saving up for the Predetor.
Next question is going to be which hand held tuner? Car screems and still gets 30mpg I would like to keep all that
