Default 06 A6 shift question

tried to command the 4-5 and 5-6 shifts at a higher speed in S mode but the computer will not obey it. Set the first few cells to the speed desired but no go. Any thoughts?

TIA

Kind of difficult to answer without seeing your tune or at least a screenshot. Make sure you don't have any overlapping cells between gears, you may be confusing the trans. Also, are you trying to change part throttle or full throttle? Full throttle doesn't have far to go and you have to make sure it's equal to the part throttle table at 100%. All my changes are on the curve, no full throttle change needed. I may actually lower it a little to make sure shifts keep me in the power band with my headers.

PS. You may also want to specify which tuning package you're using.

Assuming you are using HP Tuner: I had the same issue. I finally found two tables in the first column of the Auto Shift Speed tab, all the way on the bottom. They are called Safety Shifts and they are at the very bottom labeled 5th and 6th. It took me a long time to find it but now my 4->5 and 5->6 do what I programmed in these tables. Otherwise I could not get 5th and 6th to do anything other than stock.

Does that control both D and S modes?
My problem is in S mode only and I am only changing part throttle not WOT FWIW
BTW the term "safety" in safety shifts seems odd for what we are trying to do.

I agree, about the Safety Shift name, I think it's a bug in the software or something. I think it controls both D and S. What I wanted was probably what you are trying to do. I wanted the part throttle not to go into 5th or 6th until I reached a certain speed. So it would not boog down by shifting so soon. So I now don't go into 5th until 55 mph and 6th shift happens at 65 mph minimum. Originally I only had S modified, then I found I would never use D so I broke down and did D but not as aggressive as S. I'm happy once I found those tables. Without those tables changes, my 1-4 shifts were fine, then once it hits 4th, it goes right to 5th as you probably found out and boogs.
