No ideas on this? I am wondering if I will need a subscription to GM of some sorts, or just the TIS Dongle and software that comes with it as far as programming and flashes go?
I need to programm a BCM and am thinking of buying a Tech2 with CANDi module.
Where can i download the desired software? Is there any source outside of GM to get access to the desired files? Can i download the files and store them on my Computer for future usage, or can those files only be stored in the tech2?
How does the whole process works?
Would be great if a tech could jump in and give us some advise!
Short answer...yes you will need a subscription to GM's database. I bought a Tech 2 and can do everything but reflash modules (specifically the ECM and BCM). I can reprogram any of the rest of modules without GM. I have a friend that's a GM tech that helps me with the other stuff I can't do.
Thanks! How about the SPS TIS Software that some guys offer on ebay? I even found a guy who sells a laptop with the TIS DVD and he says with this software i can programm all BCMs on GM cars and trucks up to 2010...

You will still need GM TIS or a friend that's a tech and sometimes depending on what your doing you have to be plugged into GM live.
I had my tech II for about a year or so and finally sold it. Having a friend that I pay at the local Chevy shop works out a lot cheaper, for me anyway, than trying to maintain the Tech II and I do a lot of programming from time to time.
The TIS DVD is only as new as 2007 (Last Year made) and probably the 05 disc that's widely available.
