Default Ported intake manifold question

Maybe a tuner will chime in! I have a ported intake ( fasterproms stage 1 ) sitting on the shelf in the garage. If I install this intake on a stock tuned Z06 I'am thinking initially it will pick up some horsepower due to the increased airflow leaning out the fuel mixture. Also thinking the computer will recognize this and make adjustments thus negating any gains. Is this correct? If so, there really is no sense in installing this item unless I decide to alter the factory tune. Anyone?

The job of the intake is to get the air(and fuel) into the cylinders. If by chance you were rich and u leaned out with the installation of a ported intake.... when u do get a tune u will move more air thus equaling more power.

What will actually happen is that you will be moving more air at a higher rate, and have a greater plenum volume of air in the intake which stays greater at a higher load longer(exaggeration but think of a emptying a full bath tub vs emptying a pool). The hp gained from the great air flow will be there permanently. Jeremy (tuner) can expand on this in much greater detail when he returns from tuning in PA next week.

Is short, put it on, you will be adding hp, and if you want the most out of it, we can tune it for you as we are not far from you at all.

Thanks

Dan

Typically, the C6 runs a little rich and the increasing the additional air with your ported intake doesn't need a tuning adjustment. However, if you want to get the most from from the mod, the MAF sensor should be tuned. However again, I would consider all your future mods to save on tuning costs.
