Do Knock Sensors throw codes?
If there's knock detected, and timing is pulled, and the knock sensor still reports knock, it can set a KS perf code, but that's only if the condition is persistent, after timing is retarded.
If there is a problem with the circuitry involving the knock sensor, open or grounded, or otherwise out of range, then a code will be set.
For the most part, knock sensors do their job, and never set codes. On the 08s, and other E38s in general, they're pulling timing constantly, and they never set codes.
