So I was driving around in my 2008 coupe today and briefly (like for 2-3 seconds tops) saw my check engine light flash as I was cruising down the highway at 68 mph. The light went off for about 5-10 minutes and briefly did it again for 2-3 seconds and never came on again after that.
I had just replaced the oil, atf fluid, and diff fluid this weekend with no leaks. Oil pressure looks good, no overheating of any kind, tires look good, no audible or noticeable knocking of any kind, and no loss of power.
I don't have a code reader, and I'm not sure if this would have thrown a code anyways unless the light stayed on (please enlighten me if I'm wrong), but what possible things could I check?
The only thing I could think of was maybe there was an intermittent misfire that the computer didn't like. Any suggestions?
Get the Vette scanned at Autozone for any stored codes. That will lead us in a direction instead of guessing what the problem is. The SES flashes, that is a misfire.
If you are completely stock, it could be the gas cap. Make sure it is making a good seal. I don't remember what the code is (could be P0449), but if you get it read at Autozone, like Brian said, you can find the codes on here somewhere and see if that is the problem...
BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what are your oil pressure readings? Do you have an A6 or MN6? I'm really curious about your pressure at idle, with the oil temperature at, or above, 200 degrees. And also, if you do have an A6, cruising at 60MPH+.
Thanks,
George

Well, the vette is far from stock. I bought it used, and it already had been cammed, has long tube headers, high flow cats, corsa exhaust, 2500 rpm stall converter, and CAI. I put a new locking gas cap on it right after I got it. It's an A6 and I'm not 100% on the oil pressures though I seem to recall low 30's at idle and low 40's at highway speed.
I took the car by my dealer and they saw no codes, so whatever it was may have resolved itself.
