Push the start button but don't press in the clutch. I do it all the time to get a total recording of every engine rpm. I have EFILive recording before I push in the clutch and hit the start button the 2nd time.
Thank you, I just was not sure if the ignition was on because I am getting a "no connection" error. Now I will concentrate on fixing my connection protocol within efilive.

Thank you for quick response.

Got the latest updates 7.5 & 8.1? Boot Blocker? HAPI, Firmware? Lots to keep current and totally happy I had to sit down last week and update the entire enchilada to get it all to work.
Wow, I did not have enough beers to even to start. Three beers later, I'm all updated and ready to validate the PID's. My EfIive rusty skills are done for to night, so tomorrow I will hook to port and establish comunication.
For us A6 guys, do we just push the start button without stepping on the brake?
No, just push the start button on the bottom as if going into the ACC mode and hold in that position for 5-6 seconds until all the accessories come on including the heater/AC and headlights if your in the garage. You are now on (not in the ACC mode) without the engine started or running.
I do this when I use HP Tuners to read or flash the ECM which I believe the OP wants to do. I believe you can use the same procedure for M6's as well although I never tried it.
