Default My InTune Experience

I bought the InTune device exactly one month ago. I liked the idea of not having to drive two and a half hours to the tuner I normally use and I knew I was going to buy headers so with this device, I could load a custom tune after installing them. With some more research on the device, I found you could data log and send that file to a tuner of your chosing and they can tweak the tune based on that data log. Some major selling points for me and I pulled the trigger from a forum vendor.

Small hiccup in the beginning that was fixed with a file update from Diablosport within 12 hours. The device wasn't calibrated for my 13 GS. No big deal as it was an easy fix. These things happen. I Loaded the Diablo (93 octane) tune pretty easily and all was well. Very shortly therafter I purchased a custom tune from a different forum vendor and that loaded fine. I was 100% happy with the device and tune. A few days later I posted a postive remark in a thread on here regarding the device.

Fast forward to today and I am now going to that tuner that is two and a half hours away and have come within seconds of throwing the InTune device against the wall on multiple occasions. I have had it with this thing.

Just shy of two weeks ago after doing my first data log to send to the tuner after putting 150 miles on the car with the custom tune "something" happended to the device. It seemed to take forever to write the data log file to the device when I finished the run. I thought it was strange but who am I to know what "normal" is for this device and a data log? When I got home and downloaded the file to my PC the file was corrupt and unreadable in their data viewer which is their separate program to view the files. I figured maybe it was just a glitch or user error on my end. I went back out to attempt another data log. When I plugged the device into the car I got a message that it couldn't read VIN header data or something to that effect. Since that point the device freezes as soon as I get to the point where it tells you to turn key on, do not start engine. When I turn Acc Mode on it goes to the next screen the circle spins once then stops and never goes beyond that. DiabloSport was great at first, sent me a couple of files to put on the device, etc. Nothing worked. It isn't user error, I have already loaded two tunes, checked for DTC, before the "freezing" problem developed. I have used handheld devices on my previous C6 and a GTO with no problems.

It has been a week since I have heard from DiabloSport on a resolution. Two weeks since the problem developed. I sent them an e-mail again today and the response was, "We are still looking in to a solution for this issue. We will let you know as soon as we can duplicate and resolve the issue here." I don't feel that it is unreasonable to be infuriated with that response AND lack of a solution two weeks after a problem was identified.

I can't return my car to the stock tune or do anything else with the device relating to my car. The PFADT headers I bought are being delivered today. I planned on and was looking forward to installing them myself and using the InTune to load a tune for those headers. Can't do that.

I am done with this device. Even if a fix miraculously happened in the next day or so I am not willing to wonder, and will always wonder, if a year down the road the device is going to work when I need to change a tune or go back to stock. If it can happen once, it can happen again. The icing on the cake was the response today from DiabloSport. Perhaps it is truthful, but it is not acceptable in my opinion two weeks after the problem was identified to them and a week after I last heard from them.

I tried to be patient and let things run their course for a fix without posting anything on here regarding my issue but enough is enough.

My guys at the office may not be aware of the specific issue, but I can assure you we will investigate andresolve it.

Have you tried updating the device on a PC recently?

Im out of the country, but I will try to look into this asap.

Ah, Mike. YOU are the one I contacted right away. After the problem developed I corresponded with the tuner and he said to contact you with what was going on which I did on 4 Jan. I admit I am not knowledgable on how the internals of this thing works but I am pretty certain it isn't a problem with the tuner I used. That tune loaded fine and the car runs fine. It was 150 milles later when I did a data log and tried to download that data log file to your dataviewer that the issue developed. Several e-mail exchanges between you and I between 4-7 Jan. You sent me a file to try that didn't work on 4 Jan. Many e-mail exchanges on 7 Jan the last one from you asking if I was sure the device was freezing and not just taking a long time. I responded to that and didn't hear from you again. In fairness, I could have bugged you daily but I know you are busy and frankly I assumed you were working it. I sent you an e-mail yesterday, becuase I knew the headers were showing up and got an out of office response. I did as your out of office asked and e-mailed support and got the response I posted above. There is no way this issue should be a surprise to you.. Me saying anymore in regard to what I take as surprise at this issue in your response above is not professional nor fair to you or your business.

To answer your question...I have tried daily since 4 Jan to update the device and have done so. I have done the auto updates (when there was one), I have searched your DiabloSport Forum, daily, and put the updates from there as they post on it, in addition to loading the file you sent me on 4 Jan. The device takes all the updates and appears fine on my PC. I have run the manufacturer check on the device itself under advanced settings and it comes back fine.

Nothing, however, works on the device once I hook it up to the car, as I have explained to you in e-mails. Literally nothing. I can't force original backup, check DTCs, write a tune, data log, calibrate the settings for data log, clear all updates, or any other function. They all end with the device freezing very shortly after the prompt to turn engine key on and my turning acc mode on. Yesterday I left it alone for 4 hours same result, nothing. I have unplugged the battery, removed the mild to wild switch and replaced with original fuse, and tried everything else I can think of that could possibly interfere with the device comminicating with the car.

Best part is I have these beautiful headers sitting in my living room dying to be installed and the brick and mortar tuner that is two hours away can't get me in until 30 Jan.

I may not be the smartest guy in the world but this thing is not a complicated device from a user standpoint. If you can operate Itunes you can operate this thing. I might not be able to put a comma in the correct spot, but I am confident it isn't user error on my end IRT the device not working properly.

My desire is not to smear you or your company, I promise. This is one problem with one device, I got that. Your post here implies that you had no idea there was a problem and would have fixed it right away if you did know there was a problem. That is not the case.

I am more than willing to send this thing to you so that you can try to figure out what happend so that others don't have it happen to them in the future. The vendor I bough it from won't take it back anyway they say to send it to your warranty dept.. I don't want anything to do with it anymore. Damage is done. $450-ish lesson learned on my end.

I will post nothing further regarding this on here. I have said my peice and it was only done so that folks know there are risks with this specific device.

Default Installing the Intune.

I may be all wet, computers are not my thing period, but when the intune gets to the turn the ignition key on command I always hold the ignition switch down (just like you do for the acc mode) for the 5/10 seconds it takes to turn the "ignition mode" on.

I have never tried the acc mode because I read somewhere the acc mode is not recommended, can time itself out, etc. The advice was to "always" use the ignition mode.
