I currently use an Actron scanner that I have had for a few years and it suites my needs. Many people at work and so on know that I repair my own vehicles they ask me to read and clear codes for them. I don't mind at all except that I don't carry my scanner with me. I have been looking on ebay for something like an app that I could load onto my HTC phone and plug into the car that actually works. Are there any out there that work as well or better than my hand held that I keep in the garage?
elm327 you can get on Amazon.. the software I'm not sure how the whole app store thing works on Android's. On iPhone's you can download it in the app store. But yes, to answer your question, the hardware/software come from different places.
There's probably somebody that offers a more expensive "package" but I'd just buy them separate. You can always send it back thanks to Amazon if it doesn't work or whatever. For the price it's unbeatable. You can even do some logging if you're ever troubleshooting an issue.

Cool..... I bought a BAFX interface and purchased the Torque for $5. I have a New toy for my toy. I need to read up on things and get into the 1/4 mile speed and HP stuff.
OK, I'll try that one next. I got a small disc with my unit that has 5 different software programs on it but I'm not sure about the security of this disc.
