Default C6 Z06 recommended mods and being smog legal in CA

Hello folks!

I recently purchased a 2007 Z06. The only mods I have today are a CAI and Billy Boat exhaust. I plan on getting the heads done to address the valve drop issue. However, was wondering what else I can do while I'm in there to get some additional gains but would like to also keep it smog legal.

Questions:
1. What are your smog legal mods?
2. I see a lot of people posting in here with having their TB/heads/intake manifold ported, cam, headers, etc. Are you guys just putting everything back to stock every time smog is due? Just curious how everyone is getting around this.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do a "search" on this forum for "CARB". This relates to California and will result in a infinite number of posts on this topic.

Thanks for the tip! That seems to be what I'm hearing as long I stick with a mild cam.

I did also speak to a smog test only station today. Vehicles that are 2000 and newer does not require probing on the tailpipe anymore. As long as it passes the visuals and doesn't trip any check engine lights, it should be fine.

If anyone disagrees, I'd love to hear your feedback.

AHP calls their 116 cam their "Cali-116" for a reason...it would pass CA emissions tests back when the sniffer was still being utilized. Now, even easier to pass with visual and OBD II testing (no more sniffer). They've done numerous heads/cam cars that retain OE manifolds/cats and still put up 525-550 rwhp. Want a bit more? Have Kohle (AHP) port your OE intake manifold and TB, or you could go with a ported Fast intake manifold as those come with a CARB EO#. Add an X-pipe for better scavenging (your OE is an H-pipe), and they do pick up a few extra HP as well.

CARB certified A&A centrifugal supercharger. I don’t know of any N/A mod that will give you that much horsepower and pass CA emissions.

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's feedback! I've been talking to Kohle at AHP and he's been very helpful. I've also called other shops in SoCal but AHP seems to be the best choice for me. I will be dropping off my car this week for their Package 4 head swap w/porting, porting of TB + intake manifold, and adding the 116 cam. Can't wait!

I'm in Cali as well. I'm doing a CAI, MSD intake, Torquer 116 cam, AHP heads, stock manifolds/cats, Corsa Xpipe, JoshB modded stock exhaust.

I searched for "CARB" and didn't net any smog specific results.

Mods in Sig.

I didn’t want a crazy HP build as I cruise mine a lot.

Wanted to Lobe from the cam mainly.
