Default Hptuners now a nightmare

I was using HPTUNERS on My c6 ls2 fron 2007 to 2014 with much success.
Now I'M trying to install it on my windows 8 laptop. At the beginning of the upload I get a message I need .NET FRAMEWORK ver 2 . I then tried
to download from microsoft and the machine goes into PDF. I then logged on to HPTUNERS web and all that had changed. I needed New USER AND PW. AND IT RECOGNIZED THE SERIAL ON MY DEVICE but wanted some APPLICATION NUMBER and I recognize no such thing. Any SUGGESTIONS WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. LAST VER WAS BETA I uSED ON
MY DELL XP. WORKED FINE THEN. THANKS, LEON

Search your email for emails from "support@hptuners.com." Assuming you haven't deleted the emails, you should have access to your application key from your email, otherwise you may need to contact support for them to retrieve your application key based on your serial.

You have HPTuners installed on the old laptop still, or is it the same one upgraded to win 8?

Im sure there support can work this out. Also if you updated a WinXP machine to Win8 I feel sorry for you. Also 8 is not a good operating system I’m sorry to report. Windows XP (don’t use not secure), Windows 7 and Windows 10 are the only decent stable OS from my professional career opinion.

the laptop i am using is a win8. I know many say its not like win 7. I agree . I had to get on to hp tuners site and re do
new passwords etc. The problem is the original disc wont
start installing until i install that framework .net. I will try the old machine now that i have new numbers from hptuners.

Thanks leon

What I was getting at was, if you have it loaded somewhere else, you can open either the VCM Scanner or the Editor, click on the 'Help" and then 'Suite Info" and get the application key from there. (this was in response to the part of your initial question regarding the 'application number' you were having a hard time locating.)

i did go from win 8.1 to win 10. What a difference . I got all my numbers from hptuners and thought i should be ok to install . I still get the message framework
2.0 needed to install. My new laptop which has all usb ports and no 9 pin serial connector. Im sure the usb 2.0 & 3.0 should work fine but i'm not sure.

Why would you need a serial connector for HPTuners again?

On the MPVI the serial cable connector goes to the OBD2 adapter, not to the laptop.

Yeah. That was my point. If you plug serial plug into your laptop you will fry something; it's def happened before. You can't run 12V into a serial port and expect it to work very well

Default Suggest a forum for tech2 learning curve?

I'm getting a clone to use on my 2013 z, currently in limp mode due to me messing around with swps disconnect & running with no tp sensors. Those are other threads, look if you wish to see what I did.

LSS I am needing some tips on using the tech2 clone.

I have one now does not pass the 2 basic self tests either it's broken or it did not include the proper loopback connections (rs232) and the other one on the main cable.

Automated main PCB and VCI self tests. Not passing.

Noob on this sub forum.

So I really don't want to proceed until I have a tool the self tests ok.

I ordered another clone to try. Please don't make this into a thread about "buy the real one", ok?

Summary: Need suggestion on forum to help with tech 2, or is here ok?

This thread is about HPTuners. The title is HPTuners. The Tech2 is not HPTuners and is nothing like it. You're tagging along in a thread that has zero all to do with your question and where nobody will see it. Perhaps you should create an entirely new thread with Tech2 in the title so that people who know about the Tech2 and can help you will see it and be able to answer you.

Sorry to get you all upset. I tried to delete it. It didn't work.

Hope you never make a mistake like I did.

You get snarky reply's.

I did what you suggested, thanks for the great advice.

Wasn't a snarky reply when I wrote it. Guess that's just what you heard in your head. I can't help what goes on in there. Glad that I could help though.

LOL, you are a funny guy, So "I can't help what goes on in there" is not snarky? Whatever. Just so you know, I have a quirky sense of humor too. To be clear, I reposted my question properly HOURS before your "help" came along. So my sense of humor tends to dry sarcasm rather than snarky.

So let's shake on it and put good info out re: the cars we love. OK?

I was not trying to get 12Vdc into my computer port. I know better. What I have is The plug on the HPTUNERS BOX goes to the OBDT Connector on the car. The other side of the box has a ethernet plug and that has a USB connector on the other end for the computer. I had to get a new APPLICATION KEY and I have all applicable numbers now I will try to install it tomorrow and see what happens. I also have WIN 10 much better THANKS

You need to get an old laptop with windows 7 or earlier. A lot of automotive software does not "like" the newer windows.

I always save an old laptop or 2 just for this.

That is not true.. It works fine on Windows 10. Install the framework it mentions as required, install the correct drivers and install VCM suite and it will work.
