Most common reasons for a No communication message is something that is interrupting the "path of communication" from the obd2 port
Normally it is caused by
1 an aftermarket stereo
2 an aftermarket alarm system
3 an aftermarket remote start system
4 GM hides the fuse to the obd2 port on the cigarette lighter circuit Check that fuse
Remove the Stereo fuse the stereo amp fuse and the INFO fuse if it has Onstar and try reading it again ALSO try to dis connect a battery lead + or - overnight and that will reset the ECM and remove any glitches it may have gotten over the years
I just installed an aftermarket stereo and bypassed the stock system and amp. Could this be the cause? How do I get around it? It is a 2006 Base M6. The issue is a fault with ABS and Anti-lock brake service warning. I tried to reset it and it immediately returned. Then the Tech 2 started the communication issue. I disconnected battery for about an hour and that did not do it. I'll disconnect overnight. Thanks.
After cleaning and reconnecting cable the Tech II came back to life. I'm not sure what happened, but the ABS and traction control lights went off by themselves. I believe it was C0121. It also gave another code that has not reappeared that said "right sensor erratic readings." I cleaned that wheel sensor but the C0121 code kept reappearing. Until today. I expect it may return.
