Need some help please. My car shut off on me the other day while driving. I started hearing a weird noise at idle. Hard to describe the sound. It was faint but something was off. Then as I drove it for a few more minutes the sound got worse. I noticed when I put the clutch in the noise ceased. Then after 2 more miles of easy low rpm driving to get home, the noise got really bad. At idle the RPM's jumped around from 700-1200. And the car was getting rougher to drive and the noise was getting louder and more shuttery and knocky(i know that's not a real word, but work with me here). it didn't sound like engine knock just like two metal pieces making contact with each other. Then when it finally shut off one me there was a loud clank and she was done. I managed to pull over, which wasn't easy with the loss of power steering, and tried to restart the car and it read out Service Electrical System. Bought an OBD2 reader and it spit out the C0899 code (which is a PCM code and I found after more investigating that it is a Low Voltage Error). However i found out the C6 corvette doesnt have a PCM but a ECM and a TCM . The car turns over and some times it almost starts but in the end, it doesn't. I tried jumping the car it didn’t work. Also tried taking off the leads from the battery and putting them back on, that didn’t work. I’ve reached out to Doug and Chris from East Coast Supercharging because the shop just did the NOVI Super Charger , B.T. cam and Alky control Meth kit install 1 month ago with a tune. (also has Headers, and Mid pipe from a while ago). So far they haven’t given me any answers but are looking into what it could be. Also I recently installed a back up camera and JVC head unit. Other than that I have no clue what happened or any definitive answer. i did go buy a brand new battery and checked the charge it was good and it still wont turn the car on. i tried tightening the gas cap cause i saw that happened to someone before. so any help would be appreciated. i feel that it could be related to all the upgrades i had done since "more power=more problems". should i check the ECM next? pop of the wheel well cover and pretend i know what im looking at. lol any help is appreciated since ECS has been hard to get a hold of and i do not trust mechanics around me to not charge me out the *** if they can even find the problem since this car is far from stock.
no it wasnt. i had it read again with a professional snap on code reader. came out with a Cam shaft position sensor code. after pulling it out, i found that to 10000% be the problem.
