Its a different world tuning your car with a wideband or guessing without one. You spent about $650 on tuning software. Spend another $350 on a wideband and take the guess work out of it.

It will make your life easier and you'll learn more. Try and get your stock tune back from your tuner as a building point.

Actually I didn't spend anything on tuning software, I'm borrowing it from a buddy. But I see your point, and have considered getting a wideband. I have a copy of the stock tune. At this point I'm really just trying to get rid of my false knock

I battled false knock with a near stock LS2, I had read a few posts about a cooler heat range solving the issue. So one day while on the dyno I thought NGK TR6 are very inexpensive, let the motor cool down & change them .......problem solved. All the timing I had been removing went back in.

I believe the ls2 run a hotter plug than the ls7/9. Glad to hear it helped you out! Many people have swapped to the tr6ix and noticed the same benefit.

The ls3 may have the same hotter plug.

I have a set of Z06 plugs, which are colder. I was going to wait until I got the false knock sorted out and then see if I could add more timing with them, Maybe I'll try them sooner

Get a wideband on the car.
And add AFR commanded to the channel list.

Helps if you put both in the graphs with the same scaling.

Then you will have a good visual if the tuner hit his marks.

LS engines respond well to less timing around torque peak then ramp it up after.
As well as richer fuel at torque peak, even 12:1 then lean it out at high rpm.

Have fun

Well I tried the colder plugs, no change. So I got new knock sensors, no change. I think I'm done for the year, it'll soon be time to put it away for the winter
