Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone had any experience with this website: Auto Diagnostic Tool Wholesale From China (obd2tool.com). I've been shopping for a Tech 2 clone and they seem to have the most updated software version, best shipping cost, they take PayPal, reasonable time to delivery, and their price is inline for what they are advertising.
I've seen some of you had luck with www.obd2eshop.com and aliexpress.com and some others, but wondering about obd2tool.com.
They all look pretty similar but a few do look like they are concentrating more in automotive products. I appreciate any info you can give regarding the purchase of a Tech 2 clone.
Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions/recommendations ! Tom
I am trying to decide between the vx nano or Tech 2. I can't get an answer to if the vx does all that the tech does on it's own or do you have to pay for a subscription to be able to use it?
Hey corvettecolin, I opted for the vx nano and so far it's been good - maybe great. I'm still learning but it seems that the nano is actually capable of doing more than a hand held tech2 clone because you also get GDS2, which apparently will do certain 2010 - 2013 GM models and all 2014 and later GM cars. For instance, I also have a 2018 Yukon that I'll use it on in the future. The hand held tech2 clone only functions to about 2013 GM models I believe.
I think you only have to pay for a subscription, through GM, if you want to reprogram the actual ECM. Otherwise, you can scan, diagnose, relearn sensors, etc. with the Tech2Win that is in the vx nano. In addition, with it on the laptop computer it is very easy to navigate and view.
The other "subscription" would be the initial licence fee for the nano itself and this is included in your initial purchase and is good for like a year or 10 years or something ...like I said, I'm learning, but from what I understand so far this licence fee gets perpetually put off to a future date by the company. Point being, you don't continue to pay a subscription or recurring licence fee that I can see from other guys here on the forum that have posted their experiences concerning this.
The trick with the vx nano is getting it initially installed on a computer that will function in harmony with it. Windows 7 seems to work best I think. Good luck and I hope that helps some. Tom
