I have 07. CEL came on parts store scanned and said fuel evap so I ordered one and installed . Front right engine area is the one I replaced. Still light, so I bought a Autel OBD II AL319 scanner. Hooked it up and got DTC 1 in red., Evap, , 02S and HRT. TRYING to avoid dealership. Would a better scanner give me better, more complete information?
What EVAP codes are you getting ???…it’s a P followed by 4 digits…don’t know what you’re looking at but it looks like the IM monitors you are viewing not DTC’s !!…not familiar with that scan tool but if it’s costs 50.00 you’re not going to get to much info….I see members spend $10,000 on mods and they have a $50.00 scan tool and they can’t figure out why they can’t diagnose anything…EVAP codes are P04XX.
that's just it, i get no codes just the CEL on dash. At the top of the scanner it says I/M readiness DTC (IN RED) NUMBER 1 Then the abbreviations I put in the post. I figured if I was going to get any real info that this scanner would not be good enough just gave it a try.
Even if it’s a code reader it should give you the codes..even a cheap one !!…the “IM readiness monitors” if completed will let you know if you can pass state inspection…that is not where you’ll find trouble codes…on a scan tool you normally have to enter the car manufacturer, model year etc (enhanced OBD2) and hopefully it can do an auto ID of your VIN number…but maybe this scan tool can’t do that…the symbol below is “generic” OBD2 symbol and you can also look for codes there…maybe look at YouTube for videos on your scan tool if you’ve never had one. So did you change the EVAP purge valve ??
