I have a tech 2 clone that seems to have taken a dump.
I’d love to fix it if possible (bought a new Candi module but it still says there isn’t a Candi module connected)
short of fixing that, should I do another tech 2 for $380 total or do the nano for $140?
doing research seems to show that many people have issues getting the nano to work.
I need to reprogram my key and do a brake bleed procedure for now.
There are quite a few threads about the Vx Nano and how to get them working. I have one and I was able to get it to work by following some of the posts with procedures here. I bought a dedicated laptop for it because of the virus that may or may not be in the software. I'm a slightly paranoid IT guy, so I wanted to be extra cautious.
You need a tech 2 and a CANdi to be efficient at diagnosing gm vehicle made in or before 2013, nothing else on the market can compete with it. Although they are ancient, it is the diagnostic equipment we use at dealrships to this day for older vehicles. you can do some diagnostic work with other scanners but when you get into like reading power moding data or remote control door lock reciever modules most scanners dont let you access that type of information! Im a tech at a dealer so im just going off of my own experience i have a 17k snap on zeus and it would only talk to 12 of the 17 modules in my 05 vette haha
Hello,
Not trying to high jack this thread but I’m also curious about a code reader. Just had the check engine light come on my 06 C6 base model with a manual transmission. So I’m going to be in the market for a tech 2 or some type of diagnostic tool. Is a laptop necessary to troubleshoot these cars? Looked at a Zurich ZR13s at Harbor Freight but I have always believed in you get what you pay for something.
TIA

two most popular are tech2 clone and Nano - personally I went with the Nano - about $130 from amazon - it works on my windows 11 machine, no issues.
