Default Semi-Automatic 6 speed

What is the deal with the Computer Aided Gear Selection System? Do we really need the Feds inside our 6 speed transmissions? Thank God we don't get all the government we pay for. I thought I had forgotten how to drive when I tested a Z51 6 speed last week before I ordered the car! 1st. to 4th. Maybe I should write a book "How to turn your 6 speed into a 4 speed" Anyway, I just ordered the CAGS disconnect plug kit for 15 bucks. Now does anyone know where I can locate the plug so I can install the kit before I drive the car off the lot?

Thanks from the Vette Junkie!

The Feds have nothing directly to do with CAGS. It was GM's choice to use CAGS to get their fuel economy up, both for minimum standards and to help avoid the gas guzzler tax. If CAGS were the Feds' mandate, all cars would have them, not just some GM products.

I would assume that the plug is in the same place as it is on the C5, considering that they use the same transmission. Search the C5 section for instructions. (I'm assuming that the kit didn't come with instructions.)

Just ordered the kit. Hope it comes with instructions. I believe the fuel economy standards that GM is attempting to satisy were mandated by the Feds. Same with the gas guzzler tax. At least they used a fix that can be undone for 15 bucks. It could have been much worse eh!

If I'm correct, all you need is a little $.50 resistor from Radio Shack to do the same thing.
