Default CORSA with the BB X pipe install>>>

Lots of posts flowing out now about the merits of the various exhaust/headers set ups so this is more of a post about just showing pics as we went thru the install. I decided on the CORSA Sport with the BB X pipe and I am very delighted with the sound...did not want LOUD but did want to have a presence and let Mr Blu sing...this set up did that.
Just to start a few pics looking at the components...>>
Here is the complete set up:

and comparing the mufflers OEM vs CORSA:

and comparing the OEM H pipe to the BB X pipe:

Here is what the bottom side looks like with the OEM exhaust:

and basically the same view with the new exhaust:

While I was under there a few pics thought might be of interest>>>
Here is the chassis stiffner plate..actually quite impressive and damn there are enough bolts in that thing:

Here is the rear brake caliper cooling duct...nice set up:

Oh in case you missed my post on the general forum here is a pic of where you might want to check your emergency brake cable line for rubbing with the diff housing...might want to wrap a bit with something to protect the cable more:

and finally Mr Blu and his new exhausts:

Few last comments:
-First...the lift pics are misleading...the lift pads are at the perimeter chassis lift sites and NOT at the ends where they look like they are touching the floor pan area...a BIG
-install was a direct bolt off and bolt on...not cutting, welding etc
-if you replace the mid pipe (H for a X) the OEM clamps on the rear of the mid pipe can NOT be reused..they are spot welded onto the mid pipe
-you do have to remove the saddle tank protect covers and drop the rear sway bar to do an EASY install...no big deal
-I am doing a 100 mile ECU adaptation prior to going back to dyno test...will be interesting to see the numbers

That's all..was fun to do the install and I can say the exhaust note is impressive...my next door neighbor with a Lingenfelter supercharged Z06 was impressed.
All is good
Michael

Default Why Mix and not match

I live in phx Arizona where B&B is made. I have been to B&B,s shop many time and have meet Eric who is B&B R&D Man. He makes the B&B Pipe make Horsepower with the B&B exhaust system. He Makes sure that he makes the most horsepower with B&B and I am sure that he never tested a Corsa exhaust system with his B&B system. So whay do people Mix parts. If you buy a sony cd player you want a sony receiver.

Great pics Michael. The car is so clean(under/inside of rims) like you have not driven it yet. I hope you have not gone too vette crazy and forgotten the Elise at home. Both great cars by the way! Please do post dyno #'s when you get them, I just put the sports on myself. thanks

Default Exhaust Install

Thank you for the super information on your exhaust install. The photos are great! I assume you are using stock headers and my question and perhaps it is dumb but if non stock headers were to be installed at a later date would they fit or how much work would have to be done to change to the non stock headers?

So did something come with the kit to do this or was it something extra you had to provide?

Thanks!

Mike, excellent job and pics. I went with the Corsa Sport as well and love them. Do you get any "snap-back" on heavy decel with the X-pipe? I do with the factory H-pipe. I have the 6 speed and that may make a difference.
P.S. - Most of the parts used in my GM Chevrolet Corvette are not made by GM or Chevrolet and it runs great.

You can switch to tube headers at a later date...easy since the mid pipe just bolts off right at the cats and most header assemblies include perfromance cats... here is the point where mid pipe and the cats meet and thus can be unbolted>>>

Yes...Mid pipe kit from BB comes with replacement clamps as does the CORSA exhaust...thus the install require 4 new clamps total supplied by BB & CORSA

Do you get any "snap-back" on heavy decel with the X-pipe?
Not really... just a bit of burbling (that is a technical term ) at lower rpms as you are coming to a rolling stop..actually to me a rather sporty sound and not offensive at all....

Thanks all for the comments and yes the Elise gets driven...I like to switch back and forth...sorta refreshes appreciation for both cars

Thanks for the pics of your new set up C6FirstVette after reading your post and seeing the pics I think I know now what my first mod(s) will be when my C6 arrives
Question is how do I explain to my wife that I am buying mods for my Vette that hasn't even arrived yet
